These two are Beth and Carol, a few characters I had to lift from
@RedusTheRiotAct
because their designs are super charming. (Pics of their characters below for clarification.)
Nelle eventually grows out of her desire to dress like a circus tent, but it was only because her mother wouldn't let her duck out of any formal events growing up.
Dumping some more concept work, this is Katie Highground. She's a crowd favorite that I decided to retcon. (I also gave her a perm.)
Also, I've bulked Cassidy a smidge. Just enough that she can realistically withstand her sister beating her up because she deserves it.
Happy Mother's Day! Since I've been busy, here's a comic I didn't know when to post, because it makes unconfirmable declaratives about future events.
But it is a dream, and not canon. However... McGoober does strike me as being somewhat inevitable.
Father of the year! Cassidy's life as a young female girl is very complicated.
Technically just an old comic that I inked and colored, but now it's bonified Pandorango canon.
Introducing "Page Titles". Also introducing Anthony Perfecto. And the first color stab at Pandorango countrygoth variant Sunny (A
@Yosemite_Slam
character)
Some of Nelle's friends.
After being banished to a Catholic middle school, Cassidy took up tennis as ladysport. Even as the less-athletic Patrick sister, she still has her father's robust brute genetics.
Two page update! (Not canon, of course.)
This came out of noticing a super cute character with similarly perfect hair that belongs to
@cyynapse
. One of my boys told me the character's name is... Kim? I was unable to ascertain this for myself, but I'll go with it.
This is Katie's first -official- comic. It took me months to post this because I kept making revisions to her face. Over and over and over. Same with Trevor.
Over and over and over and *gunshot*
Fighting game Patrick Sisters, The BB Hood worked well for Cassidy last time so I kept it. But I recently learned about King of Fighters Vanessa since then (I really don't play any fighting games) and Nelle is a great match.
Just some dumb warmup thing where I butt Cassidy into someone else's IP.
I had already postulated she work as an intern under some April O'Neil analog down the road, but I also liked 2012 April's design, so fiddled with that angle.
When I enjoy drawing certain characters too much, I will opt to rip them off and subsume them into the comic. This was once Pacifica from Gravity Falls, but now she's background hot girl
#32459
, Patty Mondale.
Now that I've introduced Pooperton Penguin, this animation I put together isn't a complete blindside to you reader types.
(It is riffing off the third season Konosuba ending animation.)
Alright boys, I feel somewhat obligated to update now, so here's the first in a series of "bio comics".
I'm not big on showing "character bios" because the characters should be self-evident through the storytelling. But I think this is a nice middle ground.
I hate sketching with heavy texture brushes, because I have spaz hands, sketches tend to get fuzzy and raggedy real damn quick.
But that same brush for lineart seems kinda crispy and tight. The lineart phase actually improved an expression for once!
Cassidy giving actually useful advice to the next generation of cutthroat meangirls. I also decided it was about time to show off pre-internet Princess Highground. Being a doughy dramagoth as a teenager might justify some of her personality.
New getups! Mostly because Nelle's jersey is getting tiresome to look at, and the moment it isn't storyline relevant anymore it's going in the trash. I can probably still add a little something to the shirt/momjeans combo, but I'll figure that out later.
Dropping Tomorrow: "PRIMER"
My first "complete" comic "issue" of entirely my own design that hopefully won't embarrass me when I look back on it in a year!
Full-color, twelve or-so pages, should go down niiiice and easy.
I try not to be too referential, but here it's used to reinforce the time period. (the 80's)
Also, welcome to Pandorango. I had been avoiding saying the name until I snatched up the .com, cuz frankly I think it sounds pretty snappy.
Watch out for celebrity knockoffs as I bolster a force of background status yet familiar goths for Cassidy to hobnob with. This is a near miss of Shareena from that Detention cartoon. I've got others in the pipe.
It's Cinco de Mayo! Cassidy has many friends who are hispanics!!! :smugface:
Interesting information: Carmencita's a first generation immergant. Paco is second. This is why she has a stronger affectation than he does. *smugnods*
I have been on a tear doing reference practice to learn how to paint environments for the past week.
I decided to morph this particular practice into a comic, since it was drawn as a spitball concept for the official Pandorango industrial district.
Family history with Cassidy and Granny MacTarnahan. Granny is not fond of the Dutch (or French), nor any Dutch (or French) derivatives. In Rodric you can see the genetic earmarks of Daddy Patrick's truck-like build.
(btw: "Manx" are people from the Isle of Man.)
Sorry but this is still the best thing I've ever drawn. The clarity, the drama, the immediate pointlessness. What a storied piece.
(ARTISTS, you can only use ONE art picture to convince people to follow you.)
Some refinements of character designs. Nanako Tanaka (you don't know her yet) I've culturally characterized as an exchange student party brat. And Cheryl's outfit balanced out with a bunch of nerdy bags.
And more buildup for the arrival of Nelson, whom everyone will love.
Survival horror costumes on the girls. Cassidy is shown here with both braces and her grownup monster bosom because I wasn't paying attention again. And you probably won't be able to guess, but the fourth one is based on Aya from Parasite Eve.
Extremely old and irrelevant family history comic.
Cassidy's unreasonably hot history teacher, Helen Oakley, recounts her Hessian ancestor's brief recorded involvement with Cassidy's Great (X 10 or so) Grandfather, via Scottish constabulary records.
I'm posting this here independently, to avoid tracking in any filthy disgusting content warnings from my main account.
Should have posted it here in the first place!
Nice cute little scene, everyone hanging out around Derek's house, or rather, Nelle probably maneuvered everyone that way to schmooze with his five cats. (Included are Derek's girlfriend, and his two younger siblings.)
