Mountain Carvers continue cable wire & finishing saw cuts on Crazy Horse’s Arm. Moving & arranging the saws, splitting & removing the granite fragments is labor intensive, often requiring multiple Crew Members for one fragment; a single saw cut block contains dozen of fragments.

ICYMI on our Facebook page: The most popular post of 2023 goes to this #MountainMonday image, shared Nov 27. "From Aug thru Nov, Carvers have completed 78 saw cuts removing 909.7 tons of granite. They've also run finishing saws on 212.9 sq ft of this area since mid October."

Crazy Horse Memorial hosted the Native American Honor Ride today. The horseback riders took the journey from Pine Ridge to Crazy Horse, which took several days. They ride in memory and honor of all Native American Veterans past and present.

The Mountain Crew has made amazing progress with detail work on Crazy Horse’s Hand. Notice how the knuckles have really come to life with wrinkles created by a partner saw & other tools. Frequent UAS flights have helped the Carvers take a “step back” to look at the Sculpture.

Nov 6 is Color the World Orange Day. The Mountain will go orange @ dusk to bring awareness to Complex Regional Pain Syndrome-CRPS. CRPS is a relatively rare but painful & debilitating condition that can develop after physical trauma such as a broken limb, heart attack or surgery.

The 16th Annual Sturgis Mayor's Ride rode into Crazy Horse Memorial®. Over 150 motorcycles, all brands, all styles visited the Memorial, Monday August 6th. The ride ended at Crazy Horse with a meal for about 250 people.
