We lost our beloved Tunch today,
Tunch Ilkin 63, former Pittsburgh Steeler OT for 12 yrs &
Steelers broadcaster for 22 yrs,
The Amazing Tunch d. battling ALS.
Tunch & Wolf (Craig Wolfley) hosted
The Light Of Life Walk For The Homeless every Spring.
Thank you for the overwhelming love and support! For those of you that have reached out and wanted to support Dale's wife and youngest son, we have set up this GoFundMe.
The
@kennypickett10
to George Pickens 14 yard game-winning lump-of-coal stocking stuffer they dropped on the boys from Vegas was a Christmas present 50 years in the making! Merry Christmas to all!
So sad to hear this. Another Steeler that should be in the HOF. Andy was great before the Steelers were great. And he was a big part of building, and being a part of the dynasty that was the 70's Steelers. Great player, even better man.
Pittsburgh Steeler Legendary LB
Andy Russell has d. at 82.
7X Pro Bowl,
2X Super Bowl Champ,
12 seasons w/The Pittsburgh Steelers.
I saw

play at Three Rivers Stadium in The 1970's
w/The Super Steelers.
Andy Russell was welcomed into
Heaven by Chuck Noll & Myron Cope.

rookie center Zach Frazier on what heโs focusing on four practices into OTAs.
โFirst and foremost, getting the snap back there good. Focusing on cadence โฆ just really everything. Snap, cadence, assignment, technique.โ

Anytime I hear or think of Andy Russell, I'm reminded of this story from the late Myron Cope and the aid of the Terrible Towel in one of the slowest Touchdown returns in NFL history. ๐คฃ (h/t

We were teammates at Syracuse U. Love this guy. At a tryout, he kicked a 72-yard FG with his right leg, and a 55-yarder with his LEFT leg! In jeans!...yes jeans!
Happy birthday to the Steelersโ all-time leading scorer!
Gary Anderson also has the 3rd most points in NFL history (2,434).
To put that into perspective, Chris Boswell will score his 1,000th point this season.
If he stays on pace, he will match Anderson in the year 2037.
Happy Birthday to former

OL Craig Wolfley
"Weโre all talking and taking off our pads in the locker room and we hear a loud BOOM and see a helmet banging on the floor. The name on the helmet was Greene."
Loved this man. The last words Chuck Noll ever said to me (with a smile on his face)..."I see you have found your life's work." I will forever treasure that...
I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday, but I can remember exactly where I was standing (at the 14-yard line) on the sidelines when Tone snagged that unbelievable catch at SB 43!

Iron Mike Webster
Hereโs an all but forgotten Webster story.
In Feb 1988, he stunned
@CraigWolfley
and the Steelers by announcing his retirement only to unretire 2 days later.
โฌ๏ธNews footage taped by the Webster family. Big thanks to the Son of Iron

Larry "Boss" Brown. Made two DE's literally quit rushing the passer after the first quarter. They played "draws and screens" for the rest of the game. I guess getting punched in the chest so hard by Larry that their sternum touched their spine will do that to you....Happy
Andy Russell was a Steelers team captain ten years in a row from 1967-1976 (a team record) and played in 7 Pro Bowls. He was voted to six consecutive Pro Bowls from 1967-1976. He was the team's defensive MVP in 1968 and 1970 and the team MVP in 1971. He's also a 2X SB champion
He's the uncrowned single season sack leader regardless...he got robbed in Baltimore...rather than take away from Michael, acknowledge the mistake in Baltimore....give Watt his due!
QB friendly, reads coverages like a QB, can beat any ILB or Safety one-on-one inside the numbers. Blocking has come a long way. Tough and combative. All he needs is more targets...

Wanted to go back and look at the A22 on the Justin Fields throw to George Pickens.
It's even better than I expected. Tremendous accuracy down the field on the move.
#Steelers
Absolute DIME to Pickens. Can't throw this any better. A real shame a holding penalty negated it.
NY Old School: Craig Wolfley
Craig was a force on the gridiron at Orchard Park HS, earning a scholarship to Syracuse. He was drafted in the 5th round in 1980 by the Pittsburgh Steelers, playing 12 seasons in the NFL (PIT/MIN).

Changed the way the Center position was played...dominant like Mike Webster...explosive like Maurkice Pouncey...also baked the most awesome gourmet chocolate chip cookies I ever tasted...Dirt was one of a kind!
23 Personnel 45 years ago! Former TE, now OT, Larry Brown overloaded to the left side next to Jon Kolb, instead of the right side. TE Benny Cunningham on the right side next to OT Ted Peterson. TE Randy Grossman in motion. Awesome!
October 7, 1979 at Cleveland Municipal Stadium. Rocky Bleier runs right up the middle behind Pittsburgh center Mike Webster for a 70 yard TD. This was the longest rushing TD of Rocky Bleier's 11 year NFL career. The Steelers beat the Browns 51-35.
On this date in the 1978, with the first pick in the NFL Draft, the Houston Oilers select Earl Campbell, from the University of Texas. One of the toughest summamabitches to ever lace โem up,.
I remember as a rookie getting on a team flight for a game, and Joe came on the plane with all four rings on one hand....wow is all I can remember thinking ...
Love this man...pulled me off the field when i wouldn't come off myself because of a concussion. He saved me from myself in a time when a concussion was just another word for headache. Great, and I do mean great friend, and protector of the players!
Zach Frazier is appreciative of the mentorship offered to him by Nate Herbig, who was above him on the depth chart at C during Frazierโs rookie camp but is now on IR
They don't make them any greater than this man! One of the greatest men I've ever met in my life. An NFL game changer, and a troubled youth life saver!
