Last Saturday ended up being my last game as Head Coach at Batley. I've had some great experiences in the last 4 years and to have family and great friends there at the end made it a special day. Thanks for the memories everyone!!

The goal for rugby league has to be a sell out at their showpiece event regardless of who is there. Is there any mileage to going back to the days when all the finals were held at OT? Call me old fashioned but a GF should not be played at the home ground of a team in the final.

Well if nothing else the rfl have managed to unite the rugby league community this weekend. The support of the academy system seems to be unanimous. Maybe that was the ploy all along! Well played rfl, well played. That's how I'd be spinning it anyway!

Ridiculous decision to not allow @Cougarmania to play reserve rugby next year. One of a small number of clubs who have provided a pathway into the pro game to players, many who have played first team. Some clubs still don't want reserve rugby but are doing it because they have to

Is there any other sport that removes pathways for young players to get into the pro game like RL does? Surely we should be fining clubs for not running academies rather than telling clubs they aren't allowed to run one. What's the player pool going to look like in 5-10 years??

So the season is unexpectedly extended in September. How many players from both sides contesting the playoff have holidays pre booked? Players now having to decide between cancelling their family holiday and lose that money or playing to stay/go up. Player welfare anyone?

Apparently it's rivals round in superleague. Has anyone seen an advert promoting any rivalry? Lots of talk about the restructuring of the leagues at the minute. You can have leagues of 10, 12, 14 or 100 but unless we advertise and promote the game better no change will work.

After seeing GI come out of retirement it's got me thinking. I wonder if there's any demand for a full back that can't tackle, pass or kick. I get cramp putting my socks on and my shoulders and knees have gone but other than that I think I'm ready to go.

At 19 years old I certainly wasn't taking a penalty in a European cup final. I'd all on deciding what pizza I wanted at the end of the night let alone deciding which way I was sending my penalty. Lift them up, don't put them down.

9-8 down in a first to 10 game of footy with the kids in the front garden. Me and the youngest v the middle 2. I dug deep and scored the last 2 to win 10-9. Celebrated like we'd won the world Cup. Do you ever lose the competitive edge? Been sweating buckets for the last hour.

Not sure I can get on board with alcohol free drinks that taste like the real thing. Let's be honest, you don't drink a Stella because you like the taste of it, you drink to get drunk. It's like doing 1000m on the rower knowing it won't get you any fitter. You just wouldn't do it

Be interesting to see how the disciplinary is policed next season. Seemed to be a lot more lenient in the World Cup than the regular season in regards to bans. Some incidents not punished in the WC that we easily saw graded as B or C. Consistency is the key either way we go.

I think if anyone doubts that championship players aren't good enough to play superleague they only need to look at Brandon Moore to see some of the quality that is out there. Plus players can earn more playing part time and working full time. How bad is that for an elite sport?

Seen a couple of comments about the KO time for C4 rugby. I think 12.30 is great. Not competing with every football game that kicks off at 3 (bar 1) plus if you wait until after the amateur games finish you'd be looking at an evening KO which wouldn't be ideal on a Sat night.

Absolutely love the tackle restart rule in the NRL. Serious question though because I don't know. If you're 2 points down or level with a minute left could you request the penalty instead to go for goal? A penalty at that point would be a better option than a set restart.

Tried a bit of Yorkshire humour on the youngest on the school run today. After finishing a breakfast bar he wanted to get rid of the wrapper and asked, "where's the bin?" I replied with, "I ant bin anywhere, where you bin?" He either didn't get it or just ignored me.
