Chief Justice Frank Clarke sits for the last time in Supreme Court today, as he retires following almost 17 years serving as a judge, the last four as Chief Justice.
His career in the law spans 48 years.
This morning, all four female judges of the Supreme Court sat on the bench together, for the first time. The court consisted of Chief Justice Frank Clarke, Ms Justice Elizabeth Dunne, Ms Justice Iseult O'Malley, Ms Justice Mary Irvine and Ms Justice Marie Baker.

After 24 years as a High Court and Court of Appeal Judge, with almost 5 years as President of the High Court, today marks the retirement of Mr Justice Peter Kelly. We wish him the very best in all his future endeavours.

Today is a sad day as we mark the passing of The Hon. Mr. Justice John L. Murray, former Chief Justice.
As a mark of respect the Supreme Court will sit in the Supreme Court courtroom at 2pm.

New Planning and Environment Court division of the High Court launched today by President of the High Court, Mr Justice David Barniville.
The court will operate with 3 judges assigned full time, with the list presided over by Mr Justice Richard Humphreys.
The President of the High Court has provided directions in preparation for the commencement of the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Act 2015 today.

This week: Juries empanelled following public health and safety guidance in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Waterford, Letterkenny, Trim & Drogheda, after successful Dublin juries empanelled in July, Mullingar planned for Monday. District Court returned normal business in 40 locations.

Nenagh Courthouse at Christmastime (pic: Olivia Kelly). The Christmas tree is put up yearly by North Tipp hospice as part of their fundraising campaign. In 2020 the lights were switched on on December 2nd to coincide with the lifting of lvl 5 restrictions and as a symbol of hope.

A global issue with the pexip platform led to issues for remote court users muting/unmuting mics on Monday 12th. The problem was rectified within 24 hours and we continue to monitor it.
