January-March 23 prices are however predicted to remain high, at an average £4,255 p/a. This is because the cap methodology encourages suppliers to buy energy ahead of time, which has left them unable to take advantage of the recent decline in the wholesale market.

As of 2:30pm this afternoon, the UK has achieved more no-coal hours than the whole of last year (1,905 hours) according to data from Elexon. The total so far this year is over 1,908 no-coal hours.
