The dominant narrative that capitalism relies on, that the nature of nature is competitive, is a lie... nature is cooperative. Capitalism can perpetuate this fallacy because we have become disconnected from nature.
@CarsRuinedCity
I lived in Madrid for a few years, and never even consider alternatives to walking/subway. I didn't even bother getting a bike, my preferred mode...

@ShabazzStuart
I sometimes wonder if if not being too harsh in my judgements of the police, they do after-all have to do some difficult tasks, but then I read something like this and realise, no, they deserve nothing less than abhorrence.
@volcaholic1
The entire human race is going to stand around with phones in their hands as civilisation collapses.
It might actually getting amusing to watch...
@DamselDystopia
Where is the law changes against the genetic advantages of someone like Michael Phelps, with his 'abnormal wingspan', double-jointed ankles, and dramatically low lactic-acid production?
@Angelica_Reed1
@Fly_Sistah
That's exactly why they keep doing shit like this.
They'll apologise later, but they're happy because they know the real damage is already done.
That's why a fine is not enough.
To a hammer, everything looks like a nail. To an engineer, everything looks like a car.
But bikes aren’t little cars; and don’t need dedicated traffic circles, signals and signs.
They’re wheeled pedestrians; capable of navigating complex interactions without such interventions.

Here in Bristol we were able to move on quickly after the Colston statue was felled. All the roads, schools, and buildings named after him soon had their names changed. And that was after decades of requests.
@neuroticmonkey
Both were perfectly cast, (all were). It's the only time I've been able to watch anything with Allen in it, and it's one of my fav films.
@fietsprofessor
@ParkThatBike
Point made, but shared cars do not take up the same amount of space as other cars. It is a useful way to provide alternatives in places like cities.
'Just a minute!'
Creating a safe space for people on bikes and scooters at places that are temporarily blocked by car drivers.

Cyclists don't need to slow down, they can safely navigate heavily trafficked areas, as the video demonstrates. As bikes are muscle powered, it is energy wasting to slow down/stop and then take off again, so it's best avoided. Not something which lazy car drivers ever think about
@mbonsma
Whilst riding yesterday, I realised I don't think I have ever once ridden my bike somewhere without getting legitimately pissed of/life threatened by yet another car.
@99blackbaloons
Incredible image.
Still no one I know around me is doing anything more than paying lip service to the issue. All are still flying to places, I guess they think it somehow doesn't apply to them personally.
@char1iewatts
He's openly admitting that we are paying for something meant to be a full time post which is clearly not a full time post.
@votedannorris
@notjustbikes
They belong on the road, the speed these will go is more than fast enough for any vehicle in an urban environment, except emergency vehicles.
@tandemkate
Painted cycleways are seen as free parking... Largely because councils and police do absolutely nothing about this happening, and it happens all the time.
@LilySimpson1312
First they stole her land then destroyed her language and culture... and still they punish her. People still talk about colonialism in the past tense.
@IanDunt
1. If they're so 'talented'... then why didn't they go through the normal process of selection? And stand in their own electorate, no matter how marginal? Since, you know, they're so talented.
2. Being talented with bad policies is not the win we're looking for...
@daswiss01
@pmillerinfo
So we destroy their land, steal all their resources, then blame them for finding alternatives or fighting back.
Victim-blaming at its finest.
@de_jever
This is the next phase of the privatisation process... Now that it is underfunded, the media is going to go hard on it not being fit for purpose. Expect these kind of people to be endlessly platformed now, sadly this includes the BBC.
@CallaWalsh
Gaslighting the nation. They could have made anti-abortion law years ago, but they kept it tenuous just to force people into endlessly voting for them. And look where it has brought us all to. Playing games for profit with people's lives.
@SobrietyMatt
@TristanCorkPost
It is a hotel housing refugees... if we hadn't been there the racists would have got in. There are vulnerable families inside.
@roadcc
Funny isn't it, that due to the dangers drivers cause to other road users, action like this become essential. They, of course, are unable to join the dots.
@beardedjourno
I'm normally one saying infrastructure is the answer, but this is clearly an enforcement issue. The fact the driver knew it wouldn't be a problem tells us everything we need to know about parking enforcement in Bristol.
@Me32724295
@IrishRainforest
Good luck growing food on an ecologically ravished world. This statement is a glaring example of the disconnect from nature, which means we no longer understand our dependence on it.
