I come bearing news! I've opened up a RedBubble shop!
It's taken a while since I wanted to retool/fix-up some old art and kick things off with a nice little catalog.
I'll be adding more old & new designs in the future, so check it out here:
I am incredibly excited for
#PrehistoricPlanet
! Everything so far has looked absolutely stunning.
So here’s a T. rex cookout to celebrate. Based on art by
@j_stocky
.
Man, that Aurorus post really blew up for whatever reason.
To any newer/interested followers, I did draw some other fossil mons from my US/UM team a few years back. (1/2)
Introducing the Re-Sequenced

Baryonyx!
So glad to be done with this one. I tell myself I won't make sketches more involved, and I fall for it every time. 😮💨At least some (hopefully) cool art comes of it.

Tarbo n’ Friends - Jurassic Park Edition
I was chipping away at this for a while and was pleasantly surprised that it was still relevant by now with the JWE2 patch and new film announcement.
The tall dorsal spikes on Biosyn's Giganotosaurus reach far above its backbone, and serve as a formidable display for mates and opponents. The young lack this feature, but are far more vibrant and energetic.

Here's my overly elaborate presentation for my reimagining of the Indominus rex.
Started slow, but wrapped up quick and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Tried to use JW-styled theming and graphics to illustrate my thoughts while coming up with it.

As a result of changes made during the cloning process, InGen’s Carnotaurus favor ambush hunting over pursuit. Enhanced eyesight and sophisticated chromatophores in their skin allow the animals to track prey through dense foliage while hiding in plain sight.
#JurassicPark
InGen's Microceratops are largely arboreal animals, similar to monkeys or squirrels. While they excel at leaping from branch to branch, they can also move quickly along the ground by hopping like wallabies.

#JurassicPark30
Chaos Theory's looking pretty neat, so I figured I'd share some other JP sketch concepts (including one of the show's new additions).
Maybe I need to give my Sucho a little refresh as well...
Okay, I was working on another drawing to hopefully post today, but I couldn't NOT do this.
It's the Giganotosaurus the Jurassic World franchise deserves, but not the one it needs right now.
Also, side note, it's very hard to make a Joker dinosaur not look ridiculous.
At long last, the last member of the Fossilmon Team: Tyrantrum! My fav fossil is done at last and it feels great. Sorry but not sorry about the feathers.

That JWE post did better than I was expecting and we've still got like half a day until JWE2 releases.
As a bonus, here's that Deinonychus in a slew of skin options from the first game.
InGen’s Ouranosaurus is certainly a spectacle to behold. Its vibrant, fiery sail mirrors the crimson sunsets that often grace the tropics of Central America.

Masrani’s breed of Sinoceratops are heavyset and powerful animals, with Pachyrhinosaurus DNA in their genes.
The curious holes in their frills are thought to play a role in courtship, with males casting lights on the ground for females.

A look back at some of my bigger art pieces for the year. I’m happy with what I’ve made, but one of my resolutions for the new year is to grow and experiment with my art a lot more.
Hope everyone had a good year and that another one follows!
@Mr_Troodon
The Loveland Frogman feels like it fits the bill. Not too big, doesn’t seem that fast, often sighted crossing roads, and more animal-like than supernatural. Though it might have a little sparkler wand with it that would make it easier to see/avoid.
Switching things up a bit with a hunter from the Jurassic Seas, Liopleurodon!
In hindsight, the “bruiser” characterization would probably fit Kronosaurus better given the two’s sizes.
#JurassicJune
More patient and reserved hunters than most, InGen's Metriacanthosaurs can be overlooked in favor of the company's bigger, louder, and more vicious carnivores. But their calm demeanor can be deceiving, and turning your back on them is just as much a mistake.
#JurassicPark
And here are the extras for the Metri. I knew I wouldn’t hear the end of it if I didn’t include the JW website colors, but there aren’t too many options regardless.
As I’m sure many of you know, today is the 30th anniversary of the release of
#JurassicPark
!
For the occasion, I’ve decided to compile all my “palette” pieces into one thread for easy viewing.
I’ll be adding to it over the next few days to avoid one huge image dump.

Hot take? I honestly don't know why anyone thought commissions of rigorous paleontological reconstructions were going to be the final designs for the JW movies. Or even all that similar.
And this is coming from a JP/JW fan & paleo enthusiast.
I made some quick sketches of Baryonyx and Suchomimus in the
#JurassicPark
style for a drawing I was working on, and suddenly they spun off into something WAY more involved.
May very well do more of these in the future, I love reconstructing dinosaurs in this art style.
I've really been digging the Griffin concepts shared by
@arvalis
recently. So of course this pun entered my head and I had to draw it.
In unrelated news, there should really be a term in the vein of "carcinisation" to describe mega herbivores attempting to become sauropods.
One of the largest herbivores engineered, InGen's Apatosaurus are equally serene and mighty. Small herds spend most of their time grazing and browsing in the lush lowlands, and their trumpeting calls compliment those of Brachiosaurs quite nicely.
#JurassicPark
JP-Styled Carnotaurus Concept.
Pretty sure the novel never mentioned chameleon eyes to go with the skin, but they're too good not to include.
#JurassicPark
#JurassicWorld
InGen’s Mamenchisaurs, likely due to splicing with Seismosaurus, resemble diplodocids. And the young are similarly more selective when feeding, going for more nutritious plants to help with speedy growth.

Finished up some Baby Pachies for
#JurassicJune
! Or “Dracorex”, if you’re so inclined.
FK and JWE kinda throw a huge wrench in any hopes for accurate ontogeny, but I went for it anyway.
Polished up some sketches from the

last night.

Edops (attempting to) mate, Utahraptor preening on a rock, and Brachysuchus.
Happy

to everyone as well as the start of

!
I’ve got a lot of things I’m excited to share this month and ideas for some extra goodies to boot. This should be a good month!
And finally, here are the extras for Carno! With that, I’ve wrapped up all the JP drawings from earlier in the year.
Not to worry though for any fans of this “series”. I’ll be doing more quick sketches in the meantime, but it’s very likely I’ll come back to this sorta thing.
I see folks are talking JP, JW, & accuracy again.
I’m very passionate about the series’ creature design language and I don’t think its appeal is solely about accuracy, artistic liberties, or character design.
It’s being able to blend all 3 cooperatively to suit their purpose.
THIS IS SO COOL
Davide la Torre (Dach DLT on YouTube) made a 3D model based on my Jurassic Park Carnotaurus art, fully textured and rigged!
If you want to catch a glimpse of this guy in motion, check it out here:
Continuing with another Late Cretaceous Canadian dinosaur, it's Lambeosaurus.
It's hardly shown up at all in JP/JW material and I'm honestly surprised by that. This feels like a classic hadrosaur.
I regrettably don't have any new pieces for
#DinosaurDay
(or really many good ones), but I can share this pic from a few years back. Just dinosaurs bein' dinosaurs.
Today we've got a dinosaur who's rubbed elbows with the series a few times, Albertosaurus.
Feels like a bit of an always-the-bridesmaid situation, since Tarbo & Carno seemed to take the spots of "T. rex relative" and "speedy predator with horns over the eyes".
#JurassicJune
More render/lighting practice with the JWE2 models. They're way more detailed than the models from the first game and it's easy to make them look nice when they're using the movie normal maps.
Raptor Squad model edits by me.
I guess I should give some context on the “Snock” thing.
I saw this on Instagram a few days ago and just thought the pic was weird/funny. If you’re wondering why they named it Snock, you’ll likely have to keep wondering as I think there’s still 0 explanation on the post.
The Lizard of the Yongchuan District
Yeah, I know Greg Paul treated Metri & Yangchu as the same thing, but I sketched this back when I did Metri and I figured I'd polish it up. If Mattel can do both, so can I. :p
For Jurassic Park’s 31st Anniversary, I have something a little outside the box: Tsaagan!
Effectively a “True Velociraptor” for all the people who want something closer to the real deal but who also want to have their “Deinonychus” cake & eat it too.
#JurassicPark
From the smallest
#JurassicJune
subject to the largest, here's the Mosasaurus!
The sizing is fairly conservative, and even then this thing is larger than a handful of real, adult mosasaur species. The benefits of being an honorary kaiju, I suppose.
In contrast to the Hadrosaurus, here's Maiasaura!
Because it's the Good Mother Lizard, I figured a father was needed as well. It's close enough to Father's Day that it still kinda works out.
Super small, super soft baby Compy for
#JurassicJune
.
Also, in making this I learned that Procompsognathus (what the original JP design was based on) is actually a coelophysid. Basically the Segisaurus from the original park map. Crazy stuff.
After a little lull, I'm back with Euoplocephalus.
All the spikes and armor adorning this dinosaur give it a "gentler" disposition like a porcupine or a poison dart frog. It knows these defenses will deter most attackers and it can take things easier than most.
3 left!
It's Plateosaurus today!
This always felt like a shoe-in to me for more dino diversity in the series, though I don't think it's a high priority pick for the filmmakers. My money's on it getting into JWE3 though.
Here are some sketches I made for the most recent vid by
@EDGEinthewild
.
Hope your evening is going well whether you’re celebrating Thanksgiving or not. Link to the video in the replies.
Here’s Rhamphorhynchus (so many H’s)!
These tiny pterosaurs are well suited to a life by the sea, hunting for prey along the shorelines, lagoons, and tide pools in the cool evening air.
2 left!
Happy
#JurassicJune
(and pride month)!
This month I’ll be sharing some more of those
#JurassicPark
-styled bust sketches that people enjoyed. I’ve had ideas for a lot of these and it’s nice to get them out.
The first one being one of the first dinosaurs: Herrerasaurus!
Reclusive animals, like Kentrosaurus here, are no doubt happy that the fireworks have ended.
I think CC's Kentro did a good job of keeping to the look of the original films, it just maybe didn't have to be quite so chunky.
This looks pretty neat! I figured floats/rests would be the answer for semi-aquatic animals and the new inclusions don’t look too shabby either. Also I’m probably in the minority for being happy that Megalodon is not here lol
Picking up the pace a bit, we have Chasmosaurus.
While only about half the size of Triceratops, this animal still sports an impressive frill and could deliver a nasty bite with its sharp beak.
Wanted to make some new spinosaur art like the rest of the cool kids.
Had to draw these quick so I can hit the trend while it's hot, but I'm sure these are still 100% accurate.
Here are the extras for Apato. There was not a lot to go off of, especially pre-2015, so I sorta cheated and used the JP Institute Brontosaurus instead of their Apatosaurus. But it stood out a bit more given the other two.
Today we’ve got Monolophosaurus. Throwing in a few traditional media drawings as well!
A theropod from the Middle Jurassic of China that’s not as closely related to Dilophosaurus as you might think.
#JurassicJune
I'm only like an hour late for this last
#JurassicJune
post, it's fine.
The baby design was already taken, so here's a juvenile JP T. rex! This may be contentious to some, what with it being tied to ol' Nano, but I stand by it.
Hopping back to the Triassic, we've got Coelophysis.
It's tricky to do JP coelophysids without stepping on the Compy's toes, since its design is based on one too.
The Perforated Lizard.
Currently, evidence seems to point towards Torosaurus being a separate animal from Triceratops. Though even if it wasn’t, I’m sure the series could have gone for it anyway.
Though June's almost over, here's the first pterosaur of the bunch: Tapejara!
On that note, I may go a few days over the line to squeeze in just a few more sketches. There are a couple animals I really want to cover but only so many days left.
#JurassicJune
A late one today, here's Segisaurus! And with feathers no less!
Again, the name of the game is "Don't Just Be the Compy", and since this guy is closer in size the feathers & quills felt like a good addition. The yin to Compy's yang, this dino has poison instead of venom!
Today we’ve got a species from the novel that isn’t often talked about: Hadrosaurus!
Though I can’t blame people for forgetting it. It’s mentioned by name 1 time in the novel and it has just a handful of bones to its name.
#JurassicJune
I have no plans to leave for the time being, so I too am an
#ArtistOnTwitter
.
I draw plenty of dinosaurs & Jurassic Park, because I think they're cool, and I need to draw more paleoart, because I also think it's also cool.
As an extra birthday treat for everyone, here's a commission I did of some old JP Utahraptor figures. Pretty simple pieces per request, but packed with detail.
