Coaches, I think the days of telling parents that “I don’t discuss playing time” are over. It immediately puts the parent & player on the defensive. I believe the phrase needs to be replaced with, “let’s talk specifics that could earn you more playing time.” Try it.

Academic scholarships are easier to earn than athletic scholarships. Instead of spending more on club sports, showcases, and trips maybe use those funds for tutors? I know my opinion won't change the billion dollar youth sports club rat-race/business but its just a thought.

What this article fails to bring up is that the coach is BOTH the head football coach & athletic director. HE IS DOING 2 JOBS/! Each job is a $85-$115k job. So, actually he is saving the ISD $$. Furthermore, he probably teaches more students than anyone else in the ISD.
