Being a college basketball player is a full time job. If you don’t feel like going to study hall on a Sunday night, or you don’t want to go to extra film sessions or to the weight room early in the morning, this isn’t for you. Get a Y membership, it will save you a lot of time.

I go to a lot of high school games to recruit, but I love going to practices more. That way I REALLY get to see what players are about. Their work habits, level of competitive fire on a DAILY basis, what kind of leaders they are, how badly they want their team to succeed!!

Keep in mind: A school recruiting you is more than likely recruiting multiple players in your position. If you’re truly interested in that program, make sure you complete the application and send transcripts..Scholarship school or not. Theres only so many roster spots available..

Preparing this summer for the next level? Work on handling ball pressure. In the backcourt, and on the catch in the front court. Sound decision making, making a good pass while pressured, ball faking, and reading close-outs are invaluable skills to have.

In my opinion, the hardest part about coaching at the juco level is graduating a group of guys you wish you could have for another 2-3 years. This group is so special. High character, coachable and hungry to learn and compete. Really excited to make a run in the playoffs.

Basketball isn’t like riding a bike. If you aren’t getting your form shooting in, you aren’t pound dribbling R&L hand, you’re getting worse!! Simple drills? Yeah but you aren’t too good to stop working on the basics.

I love when bigs have guard skills, I actually think it’s essential to have for a big this day and age. BUT, it’s still vital for bigs to be able to set great ball screens, finish around the rim with contact, and to be able to pass and score out of the low post.
