Teams should practice end-of-game situations as often as possible. This may be the last five minutes of practice, every Wednesday for 30 minutes, or to start a scrimmage in practice. The more you practice late game situations the luckier your team gets. #cmdcoachinglab

10 ways a player can affect a game without scoring: - talk on defense - make the extra pass - sprint the floor - keep their head in a swivel - box out - give high fives - move to create space - listen during timeouts - dive for loose balls - be an encourager when out

Why you shouldn’t care about your summer ball record: 1. Rarely do you have your “team” 2. Team defenses are horrible 3. Combination of players is different than normal 4. Half of your players aren’t in basketball shape 5. New players playing together 6. Refs… are there refs???

Does it really make sense to run a big to the low block in transition if the big isn't a threat? Maybe run the big to a wing or corner and then have them screen down to get a shooter open and a possible slip for a layup that doesn't need a post move. Just a thought.

Keep this in your back pocket if your team isn't good at scoring out of BLOB sets, especially in EOG situations. Have a play call to throw the ball to half-court and then call a TO. The play now becomes a SLOB play and your team can be in a position to attack with more room.

Better Defense: Have an assistant coach or manager always hold a ball. They throw the ball in any time there is a deflection or turnover out of bounds. This keeps the defense focused and doesn't allow for a stoppage in play.
