Just heard from another social tenant being required to pay an eye-watering service charge - £59 a week. This includes "communal repairs", "entry phone maintenance" + "sewers & drains" too! We have made a formal complaint but there must be a way of challenging it for all tenants?

Huge respect to those tenants at Tait Court who challenged Clarion Housing over its failure to compensate them for complete loss of water for a week last year. They have just secured a payment for everyone. This shows the power of collective action.👏 Next up: "service" charges🧐

This is outrageous. Cllrs should remain anonymous while complaints are investigated but if Tower Hamlets Council decides this allegation made it so impossible to defend the Licensing Committee's decision that it must pay so much compensation, then residents should know who it was

Fifteen more constituents in my advice surgery today including another tenant of Clarion Housing who was told he couldn't make a complaint over phone. Instead, a manager would call him back within 24 hrs. Two weeks later, he is still waiting. This is how complaints are suppressed

Just put in a complaint for a constituent about Clarion Housing's handling of a leak into his home over past six months. This is the 7th such complaint in Tait Court in past three years. Each time, tenants suffer the same delays + excuses ... and yet the @RSHEngland does nothing!

Just discovered the £480,000 a year reduction in spending on the Mayor's nine advisors that we were told would take place in 2025 now won't happen. Instead, these roles are extended at least to the 2026 election. The £1 million cost is one reason he is hiking your Council Tax! 🧐

Just when I think Clarion Housing can't get any worse, this response to my enquiry claims it can recharge the Social Tenants of a small block the £2,500 costs of repairing their worn-out old lift last year because they "misused" it. They aren't leaseholders + most are pensioners!

Just spoken to another tenant badly let down by Clarion Housing. After failing to carry out basic repairs to stop a leak, it had to move her out. She has now been stuck in a low-grade hotel room for 4 weeks as Clarion "has to limit the use of apartments" with cooking facilities😠

Have been thinking more about yesterday's revelation Tower Hamlets Council conceded this appeal + paid significant compensation as it couldn't refute the allegation against a councillor. This must now be investigated by Whitehall's 'Best Value' inspectors.

Amazing results for @UKLabour in these elections. So proud that, despite the local challenges we face, 108,977 City & East residents came out for @SadiqKhan . Nowhere was that vote stronger than in Spitalfields & Banglatown, where @shadchowdhury2 steered us to a local landslide👏

Was out listening to residents in Bow with these guys over the weekend. Lots of concerns about Swan Housing's poor management of their blocks + delays in getting repairs done. Have taken those up, but we urgently need a Labour Govt that will crack down on failing social landlords

Its now 8 weeks since the LGA's Peer Review of Tower Hamlets Council identifed weaknesses, including mistrust between officers & cllrs + a lack of women's voices in decisions. @TH_Labour offered to work with Mayor to implement its recommendations, but so far we've heard nothing🤔

Good to see these PQs from @rushanaraali asking about effectiveness of Regulator's intervention in Tower Hamlets Community Housing. THCH's decline began with original 'downgrade' a decade ago. Its service is worse now. Tenants must be fully involved in any decision on its future.
