High View Appeal Rejected! The Planning Inspector has thrown out a developer's scheme to build 40+ properties at High View in @StGilesVillage , which he said threatened "substantial harm" to the green belt. A great result for our village & everyone who campaigned to protect it!

Scrap fly tipping? Yes we van! This vehicle was involved in a fly tipping prosecution, and so has been destroyed- smashing work! (Scrapping in this way is the most cost effective solution- it cuts down storage costs and we only do so if the sale price is low). @BucksFlyTipping

After a great effort by volunteers, @StGilesVillage has been named the Best Kept Village in Bucks! We won the Tindall Cup, a 'best of the best' competition between villages which won an award in 2018. The cup will be presented on Saturday 14th Sept @ 1pm on the village green.

I'm delighted that @ParadigmHousing 's plan to put 42 properties on green belt at High View has been rejected. 'Protect St Giles Green Belt' did great work to oppose the scheme. Objections from 500+ villagers were also vital. This is a victory for our village!

. @BucksCouncil waste teams use hidden cameras. They go through fly-tipped waste to find clues. Thanks to these efforts, the fly-tipping prosecution rate in Bucks is 10x the national average. Criminals will not be allowed to dump waste in our beautiful county with impunity.

John Milton was blind when he dictated Paradise Lost. Today @MiltonsCottage held a fundraising tea party for the sight loss charity @guidedogs . It was great to catch up with Guide Dogs volunteers and watch their demonstration team who showed what trained guide dogs can do.

. @BucksCouncil is trialling a new material to repair road defects - made from recycled tyres! The new material does not require noisy machinery or cutting into the highway. Trial sites will be regularly inspected to assess how the well the new material works.

This image shows Chalfont St Giles in 1883. Note the tree on the High St. Known as Milton's Elm, it stood opposite The Elm Tree pub. After closing c.1915 the pub was demolished & replaced by the building where Albert Warner founded the butcher’s shop which still bears his name.

It's fantastic news that Buckinghamshire has one of the highest recycling rates in England. In 2018/19, 153,152 tonnes of rubbish were recycled in Bucks. That is 58% of our county's waste - well above the national average of 43%.

I am pleased to confirm that, after being closed for refurbishment, Chalfont Leisure Centre will reopen on Saturday 19th December. Visitors will benefit from a larger gym with brand new fitness equipment, brand new immersive cycling studios and larger group exercise studios.

I'm delighted that Janet Scholfield has been awarded the Posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award in Bucks. Janet was a stalwart at CSG tennis club, where she ran junior tennis for 20+ years, and a huge part of village life here in Chalfont St Giles.

Today I have submitted my objections to the deeply flawed @ParadigmHousing proposal to build on pristine green belt land in @StGilesVillage . The application is part of a plan to build 90 properties, including blocks of flats. This is the wrong number of homes in the wrong place.

Last night I joined a call with the Protect St Giles Greenbelt Group. For a year we have fought Paradigm's plans to build on greenbelt @ High View. The Council rejected the plan but Paradigm appealed. The hearing is in May. We'll present our strongest case to defeat the appeal.

. @BucksCouncil has one of the best records for catching fly-tippers, but harsher punishments are needed. We have called for the Sentencing Council to allow: - much larger fines - fly-tippers to bear the cost of cleaning up the mess - automatic prison sentences for 2nd offences

Joined a positive Protect St Giles Greenbelt committee meeting tonight as we work to defeat @ParadigmHousing plans for a large estate on wildlife-rich greenbelt @ High View. @BucksCouncil rightly rejected the first application. Paradigm's appeal hearing is in 2 weeks.

Boost for Bucks Nature! The Government has picked 48 areas to trial a Local Nature Recovery Strategy, and Bucks is one of them! High quality natural habitats cover 13% of Bucks. The LNRS will⬆️biodiversity & help @BucksCouncil consider nature recovery in planning decisions.

I enjoyed meeting Wendover's 'Grow to Give' team of allotment holders who donate their surplus to local food banks. Last year 100 growers donated 1600kgs of food. I'm delighted to approve new @BucksCouncil funding to help local growers share 2500kgs of fruit & veg this year.

New funds to stop roads flooding. @BucksCouncil has released an extra £500,000 to clear 2,000 high priority gullies, dig new ditches, and repair broken drains. This will speed up the existing gully cleaning programme, which plans to clean all 80,000 gullies across the county.

Pleased to be reappointed @BucksCouncil Deputy Cabinet Member for Homelessness & Regulatory Services at today's Annual Council - teaming up with Cabinet Member Mark Winn. 1,300 people moved off the Council's housing waiting list and into a home of their own last year.
