We’re talking about fossil fuel execs, whose own scientists warned them for decades that their activities would wreak havoc on humanity and nature. But instead of winding down those activities, they spent billions promoting climate lies and lobbying against climate action, as

Once the fossil fuel industry is over, perhaps there could be something like the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which seemed to lead to very deep experiences and inner transformations. I believe in nonviolence, not in vengeance, so I would support this.

There are several groups who are using international criminal law to seek the prosecution of those who cause mass death, mass suffering and annihilation of low-lying states through climate destruction. It must surely be only a matter of time before some of them are successful.

“Should we try and keep Earth liveable? Only if it’s cost effective”. This line of thinking is absurd as well as being morally repugnant.

Following last night's climate and nature hustings, I am definitely aware that I talk a lot about climate and not enough about nature. We are part of nature. The insect population is plummeting, and the human population won't be far behind unless we radically change our approach

Numbers of insects dropping off a cliff so brilliantly illustrated on #r4today by the loss of the summer sounds of grasshoppers & crickets & pollinators of all kinds. A truly terrifying mass extinction event that none of the major parties have clearly enough as their priority.

Green spaces. Disgraceful. This was York Gardens before and after. Over 400 mature trees killed in the face of huge local opposition. Developers allowed to destroy the beautiful black poplar they promised to keep. A pattern repeated across the borough.

The final question at last night's @batterseasoc hustings was about Rosebank, the new oil & gas field which both Labour and Conservatives back. If burnt, the oil & gas in Rosebank will produce 200 million tonnes of CO2, killing huge numbers of people through climate destruction
