Whoa Jermall Charlo just entered with Z-Ro rapping Mo City Freestyle while most of the crowd rapped word-for-word. That was the most Houston thing I’ve seen.
Stephen Jackson said a lot about Harden, but the dagger: "What a real one would do is go play for that Black coach and make him look good and build with John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins - some real ones. But, obviously, you want to go chase rappers around."
He thought this guy had 750,000 fraudlent ballots in his truck, so he rammed into the back of the truck, pulled the man out of the truck at gupoint and put him on the ground with his knee on his back. (story by

One major difference between the Astros and Rangers? Pregame at Globe Life Field is almost entirely Texas Country over the stadium speakers. Right now at Minute Maid Park: Big Moe's "Purple Stuff."
Here’s Troy Caldwell. He was the fan who was ruled to have interfered with the Astros potential home run ball. “I’m going to need security to escort me out of here if the Astros don’t come back to win this.”
Missed this photo from Game 6. Sheryl Swoopes walking over to the Rangers dugout to say hello to fellow Texas Tech legend Josh Jung. (photo by

Mark Aguirre was the guy who ordered the arrest of 273 people in a Kmart parking lot in 2002 in what was supposed to be a crackdown on street racing. He was fired as several arrestees sued the city, saying they were just customers at the time of the raid.
Draymond Green says about Bill Simmons what I said a couple weeks ago. "F--- Jalen Green" sounds like a really personal thing to say when you're allowed to vote on NBA postseason awards. via

Brad Jordan, aka Scarface of the Geto Boys, says he had 103 fever, felt like an elephant was sitting on his chest and thought he was going to die. He has now tested positive for coronavirus. via

Kevin Sumlin tweets eyeball emojis after the Aggies’ loss, Texas A&M recruiting analyst threatens Sumlin’s career. (Screenshot edited by me, because it’s the Lord’s day).
George Springer, Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman and Carlos Correa – the Astros' key cogs on the 2017 team – have combined to go 11-for-18 (.611) with 3 home runs and 8 RBIs in Game 1 against Oakland.
Steven Souza Jr. - who has played for the Nationals, Rays, Diamondbacks, Cubs and Dodgers, and is currently in the Mariners system - says more than half the teams in baseball were cheating like the Astros in 2017. via

Andre Ware on Texans radio as the Texans boot a 53-yard field goal to beat the Titans, who tried to rub salt in the city’s wounds by wearing Oilers uniforms: “YEAH! GET OUT OF HERE! PUT THOSE UNIFORMS BACK IN THE TRUNK!”
I don't want to clutch my pearls here, but what Bill Simmons said about Jalen Green seems to cross the line, especially when you're given a postseason awards vote by the NBA. via

Everyone knows Purdue's Carsen Edwards now, but here he was as a freshman on the Atascocita High School varsity team back in 2013. Another example of why you should drive to these high school gyms all over Houston. So much talent.
Tank Dell left the Texans locker room with Clayton Tune’s Cardinals jersey. He swapped jerseys with his former UH quarterback after the game. The Cardinals drafted Tune in the fifth round.
Also onboard the helicopter with Kobe Bryant was John Altobelli, who played baseball at the University of Houston in the 1980s and was a college baseball coach in Southern California. via

After years of talking about an entertainment district near Minute Maid Park, the Astros are closer to taking action. It will include a big screen outside the ballpark so fans can watch the game from the street. (by

Kyle Korver on what he calls a dangerous form of racism: 'The person who does and says all the 'right' things in public ... But in private? Well, they sort of wish that everyone would stop making everything 'about race' all the time." via

Dusty Baker was asked if he talked to Hunter Brown at all about making his first start at Yankee Stadium today: "No, this kid is from Detroit. I don’t know no punks out of Detroit. I ain’t lying. All the dudes I’ve played with out of Detroit are some cool, borderline gangsters."
Marwin Gonzalez owns possibly the biggest hit in franchise history, and definitely one of the coolest moments when he crossed home plate. via

Attendance tonight for Rays-Astros, aka Team with the Best Record in Baseball vs. Defending World Series Champs:
9,916 (or about 700 fewer than last night)
A.J. Hinch says he doesn’t like any lag time between or during playoff series. On the Yankees being rested, Hinch says: “I’ll play em tomorrow if they want to play.”
Texans' Bill O'Brien: "Yeah, I’ll take a knee — I’m all for it ... They’re not taking a knee because they’re against our flag. They’re taking a knee because they haven’t been treated equally in this country for over 400 years." (Story:

People are going to hate this a lot. Here's the cheating history of every team in Major League Baseball. Did you know: The 1951 World Series champion Giants used a telescope and buzzer to illegally steal signs? Lot more examples here: via
@houstonchron
Alex Bregman: “Does Floyd Mayweather fight the first fight of the night or is he the main event? I mean, does Tiger Woods tee off at 8 a.m.? It’s about time the ShowStros play on prime time television.”
A chuckling Evan Gattis had some fun when asked about everyone hammering the Astros for sign-stealing: "Houston marched through fuckin' Boston, New York, and L.A. and came back with a fuckin' trophy. So, I think people were a little pissed.” via

The Astros’ George Springer and Michael Brantley changed a flat tire for a stranded motorist last week and they appear to have turned it into a new celebration.
Interesting to hear Demarcus Cousins speak about the James Harden drama. Here's a moment between the wo caught by

Amen Thompson made his first Houston misstep, saying he wishes he could celebrate with a burger from In-N-Out. Someone take him to Whataburger as soon as he lands.
This Astros fans promised he'd buy beers for his entire section if George Springer hit a home run in the fifth inning today. Springer homered, and this guy paid up immediately. via

Current Astros who were on the 2017 championship team (Springer, Bregman, Gurriel, Correa, Reddick) are 7-for-19 (.368) with 7 RBIs against the Dodgers tonight.
Rangers play-by-play announcer Dave Raymond after Chas McCormick’s homer gave the Astros a 12-3 lead: “What in the Wide World of Sports has gone on in this series? This has been a drubbing of the highest order.”

There's a tweet going around saying Houston has the most players in the NFL with 24. That's a severe undercount. If you include players from Fort Bend ISD, Katy ISD and Conroe ISD, there actually are 54 Houston-area players on current active NFL rosters.
Zack Greinke and his family were in the crowd for that marathon Astros-Mariners game. According to his wife Emily, no one recognized the former Cy Young Award winner in his customary dad get-up that includes a fishing hat. via

After tonight's win, Jeff Luhnow heaped a lot of praise on rookie Jose Urquidy. Called his changeup to strike out Aaron Judge in the fouth inning “maybe the best pitch of the entire night.”
James Harden says he hasn’t been in touch with Carmelo Anthony but says he’d be a great acquisition for the Rockets. “He’s a proven vet. He wants to win at this point.”
This is from two different mound visits in the ninth inning last night. Look at how happy Cionel Perez is during these chats during his major league debut.

Astros prospect Forrest Whitley pitched a hitless eighth inning. He pitched around an error and a walk. Got two strikeouts. Hit 97 mph on the stadium gun.
