The really sobering thing about the Rwandan deal that Priti Patel has announced is that whole point of it is that she and Johnson must believe it’s a huge vote winner with the British public. Which raises the question as to what kind of uncaring society we British have become.
Buried in today's Mail on Sunday polling showing comparisons between Johnson and Starmer, is this poll on EU membership! As the public, even the pro Brexit Mail readers, increasingly decide we made a mistake, it will be harder for this Brexit Government to maintain its poll lead.
I thought this was marvellous when I saw it on BBC Breakfast news on Saturday morning. If people like him, and the ones speaking at the rally, had been running the campaign against the Brexiters lies during the referendum we wouldn’t be in the catastrophic mess we are now in.

why young people from all over the country are making their voices heard today 👇
Company linked to Conservative peer Michelle Mone that was awarded £203m worth of PPE contracts via the Government’s VIP lane has been issued with a winding up petition, apparently for unpaid taxes.
We are heading in one direction here, but when will politicians from both major parties realise that this is the direction of travel, and start planning accordingly?

💥Brexit has gone badly - 65%
💥Brexit has gone well - 21%

Wonderful Tonight, what a filly, and what a credit to David Menuisier and all his staff. It’s so sad she’s missing her career defining target. She gave us so much hope through two difficult seasons. A shining light on the racecourse, she owes us nothing. We owe her everything.
On a brighter note, happy to say that our wonderful group one winning champion mare, Wonderful Tonight, had her first ever date this morning. And it was with Frankel! Here’s hoping.🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽
I think we all now recognise that the only reason Boris switched from Remain to Brexit was because that was his only route to becoming Prime Minister, or “World Leader”. He seems fixated on the position and the title, AT ANY COST to you or I.
@MarinaPurkiss
He literally said that London owes its success to the EU Single Market and that no PM should ever change it.
The only reason Boris Johnson supported Brexit, was because he realised he could ride a wave of nationalism into Downing Street.
Goodwood, and tomorrow’s unfortunate last minute cancellation, it’s good to know that the catering already prepared to feed the 5000 expected tomorrow will be put to good use by being donated to local Chichester food bank.
Because Boris Johnson is a compulsive liar, and he can’t stop lying to the British public. If he is intent on destroying our and our children’s futures, at least have the guts to be honest about it. If he thinks having no relationship with our Europe is a good idea, just say it!
Sorry for not responding to all the messages yesterday Re Wonderful Tonight. I was busy hosting the NR Charity Race Day event at Sandown Park, and received the devastating news from David just as I was about to make my welcome address. A very difficult day, but we raised £83.000.
The arrogance of the Government really makes me embarrassed. If we need qualified HGV drivers to stave off a serious crisis, at least let’s have the decency to say please. Let’s say “invite” you to come here, not “allow.” People have choices, and remember we just kicked them out.
Thanks to whoever it was who suggested the name Frankly Wonderful for any resultant foal emanating from the exciting mating of Frankel with Wonderful Tonight. Much to my surprise the name was available, and hopefully I am not providence by reserving it!
I also believe that if, 400 years ago, we were debating whether the world was flat or round, the BBC would have to have one scientist for each side giving facts to prove both cases, despite the overwhelming evidence. It was the same with the Brexit referendum, hence where we are!
I always joke that the BBC definition of balance is presenting the pros & cons of drinking arsenic as equal.
But here's Dan Hodges saying that even though Brexit has damaged the economy, the BBC should have disproportionately favoured the minority of economists who got it wrong.
Wonderful day at Glorious Goodwood today with the magnificent win by Wonderful Tonight in the Lily Langtree, somewhat spoiled by the fact that someone with the name Davidson actually went into the weighing room and took our trophy! Yes, officially signed for it, and was given it!
The virus response the worst in Europe, the health service, the A level results and reopening of schools, the economy, the scandals, the cronies elevated to the House of Lords, the impending No Deal Brexit, the absent PM. Is this the worst, most corrupt government we have had?
@The_Real_JSP
Janet, we should admire him for his achievements, and sympathise with him at a very sad time for him! He’s done nothing wrong! It’s not his fault that we have so many underprivileged people, and he didn’t leave for Monaco, so let’s assume he’s paying his taxes too!
It all stems from their predilection for Brexit at any price, to satisfy their right wing eurosceptics, regardless of how much it would damage the economy and the prosperity of us all, and that they had to lie to people that it would make us all better off. No way back from that!
🚨🚨🚨BREAKING: Today we can reveal the Tories are set for electoral oblivion, with our latest mega-poll forecasting their worst EVER election result, winning fewer than 100 seats. 1/9
Why do we not kick Russia out of all international sport, as we did with Apartheid South Africa, and which seemed to make a huge impact. Then we confiscate all uninhabited property owned by Russians in the U.K. Let's hit hard the ones who can put pressure on Putin's power base!
Just a couple of weeks old and already looking like a champion in the paddock at Stratford Place Stud. Here’s the 2024 filly by Frankel out of multiple group one winner Wonderful Tonight.
2⃣Years 2⃣Months since Brexit would actually have been done if all votes had counted equally in the 2019 election.
Over 200 jobs lost as Grimsby fish company closes, after losses £8 million. Bosses blame Brexit.

After today, there can be no doubt that Bungle Inthejungle is real stallion sensation. He’s a Stratford Place Stud homebred who raced for Emily Asprey and myself. He is a grandson of Crime of Passion, the first filly I bought and my foundation mare. That’s what makes racing great
Unfortunately, two of the biggest supporters of Brexit were the fishermen and the farmers, despite the NFU warning them of all the risks. Sadly they are two of the industries worst affected. The lies that were told to them by the Brexiters were verging on criminal.
BBC coverage telling it how it is…
A farming rep on BBC’s Countryfile just said they’re really worried about cheap imports flooding the market as a result of the Govt’s Australia/New Zealand trade deal
And how British farmers are now having to “work harder then ever”
WIN
Wonderful Tonight. After a brief flirtation with the idea of running in the

in either the Turf, or the Fillies and Mares, we have decided she has fulfilled all her ambitions for this year and deserves a rest. Her principle target in 2021 will be the Arc de Triomphe!
We wish her a wonderful life as a mummy, producing foals even half as good as she was. And who knows, maybe one as good who can actually win the Prix de Arc de Triomphe.

Three runners in the first race at Royal Ascot tomorrow, Friday, Dancin Inthestreet, Flippa the Strippa and Electric Ladyland. Three chances to break the 38 year Royal Ascot duck! And if one of those doesn’t oblige, maybe Valpolicella will in the next! Fingers are crossed!
That’s it, The Arc is run for this year. Congratulations to the connections of the winner. Who knows how Wonderful Tonight would have run, but surely in today’s ground she would have been very close? Anyway, the dream is over, and it’s back to trying to win The Prix de l’Abbaye!
I remember that group so well, as I was on tour with them many times in The States. It was funny how so many people would come up to Rod after a show and say “Jeff, you were great tonight, and your guitarist is pretty good too, isn’t he!”

Jeff Beck was on another planet . He took me and Ronnie Wood to the USA in the late 60s in his band the Jeff Beck Group
and we haven’t looked back since .
I wonder if predictions of social unrest and nightmare disruptions in October when post Brexit UK citizens will be delayed for hours at European borders to undergo finger printing and photo checks was a factor in determining that Sunak is holding the election in July?
My Top 20 Jimmy Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Alvin Lee, Jimmy Page, Peter Green, BB King, Roger Waters, Jeff Beck, Carlos Santana, Mark Knoffler, Brian May, David Gilmour, Keith Richards, Pete Townsend, Duane Allman, Angus Young, Ritchie Blackmore, Robin Trower, George Harrison, Slash.
By the way, what did happen to the extra £350 million a week that we would have for the NHS for leaving the EU? Surely we could give some of that to the nurses who we applauded every week? Let’s start spending all this huge Brexit bonus they promised us!
“The only story in town, and yes it’s riveting, is the Rasputin like survival in office of a weird windbag entertainer. And yet again he dodges the bullet. Amazing! It’s theatre! It’s cinema! It’s a movie! But it’s not theatre, it’s government.” Mathew Paris in Saturday’s Times.
What the Rwanda migrant deal demonstrates is that Johnson will go to any lengths, however repugnant, immoral, illegal or disgusting they may be, in order to keep himself in power. This is quasi Trumpism in action, and we should be very afraid of the consequences.
It was really weird, and inexplicable. The producers ensured there were no close ups, so it was hard to figure out who exactly was on stage. If it had not been announced as Madonna you would never have known, in fact, it could have been anyone!
With a real risk of racing being abandoned for months if we, as an industry, do not act immediately and decisively, I am advocating that we announce that all racing be behind closed doors from this Wednesday. The only people present being those essential, including broadcasters!
#Channel4
Rory Stewart is so far head and shoulders over all the best speaker and communicator, and the audience are beginning to realise he would also make the best Prime Minister.
There is only one reason why Liz Truss would make her City Break trip to Moscow to meet with whoever whilst Macron was seeing Putin, and that’s because it will play well with the Tory members in the constituencies who will vote for the next PM. Unfortunately she was humiliated!
Truss thought she could look like a stateswoman & reprise her pound shop Thatcher impersonation to impress the base back home. She got humiliated. It’s the arrogance of thinking that gangsters like Lavrov & Putin wouldn’t know exactly what she was playing at that’s most pathetic.
In racing, you have good days and bad days. You even have great days and terrible days. Today was unfortunately in the latter category! But it’s the really bad days that make you appreciate the really good days, of which we have had our fair share, with hopefully more to come.
How utterly tragic is this! What a sad situation for a club with so much history and tradition. They won eleven trophies in eleven years only a few years ago. Totally devastated!
Just asking, but given a choice between actually having petrol, but delivered in a tanker driven by a Pole, and having food in the supermarket, but it’s arrived with a Bulgarian driver, would you prefer this to no petrol or food prices which are increased by 10% across the board
I don’t remember any serious discussion on the Northern Ireland protocol during the Brexit referendum. I wonder why? Like everything else of a pragmatic or practical nature it was swept under the carpet in order to secure the “marvellous” trophy the outrageous Brexiteers craved!
“We need to talk about Taylor”, yes we do. When the world’s biggest female pop star pulls out of a well promoted huge profile event like performing at the Melbourne Cup because to be associated with it might affect her popularity this is a real “Houston we have a problem” moment!
Why don’t all primary school children get free school meals? Especially at a time like this. If I was running the country that would be close to my number one priority. What kind of country have we become?
My sincere thanks to everyone, sponsors, donors, guests, bidders, and
@MCYeeehaaa
who helped make today’s charity race day event at Sandown Park such a huge success. Through our combined efforts we raised over £135.000 to provide Music Therapy for primarily autistic children!
The little sister to multiple group one winning and champion filly, Wonderful Tonight, is close to making her racecourse debut, possibly even this weekend. She is named Heartache Tonight!

Quite right.
People like Emma Banks and I have spent our Ives working in a business we’re you put bums on seats, but would anyone ever ask our opinion? Of course not!
Can’t believe it. The voice from Coventry that brought us awareness of racial discrimination, youth unemployment, teenage pregnancy and Nelson Mandela. Yes, all that and more! Tragic.
There was a terrifying shooting inside an elementary school classroom in Newport News, Virginia late this afternoon. A female teacher was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and a 6-year-old student was taken into custody after the shooting.
I’m afraid this is the bizarre mentality of some of the people driving this process. It is beyond frightening for the future of our country that people with views like this are dictating the agenda!
Kim Philby got away with being a Russian spy despite all the evidence, because he spoke the right way, went to the right school and attended the right university. Could it happen again? Could it happen to someone in an even more powerful role? You bet it could!
That’s because we a group of politicians all trying to be the PM, and all only interested in appealing to that very narrow group of Conservative party members, who are all totally out of synch with the rest of the world!
No disrespect to Cheltenham, but for me the 2021 proper season starts on Friday when the unbeaten 3 yo Bungle Inthejungle filly, Flying Down to Rio, runs in a hot one mile conditions race at Bordeaux.
I wonder if the Government will announce, “ Sorry, we made a mistake, this Brexit was a terrible idea. We can never recover our economy until it’s reversed. So, we are going to resign and let someone else take over.” No, I don’t think so either. But they should, shouldn’t they!
Since the Comcast takeover of Sky from Rupert Murdoch there is no doubt that the editorial stance appears to have changed substantially, as has the Mail’s with the new editor.
I wonder how the referendum would have panned out if we had had both these changes before the vote?
Anyone thinking the Sue Gray appointment is a win for The Conservatives had better think again. It perpetuates the Tory infighting just as Sunak is imposing himself as someone who can get things done as opposed to pretend to. What future now for the Windsor Protocol succeeding?
Watching “A Spy Amongst Friends”. I watched (and read) several works on this subject, and the 2 best by far are the original BBC TV series of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy with Alec Guinness as George Smiley and an even more ancient docudrama of the whole story, which was also great!
Why do the Government keep taking us for fools? We all know there is no shortage of vegetables in the rest of Europe, just in the U.K. We all know the reason why. Just admit it. We know we voted 52 48 for it, and we know we’re stuck with it, for the time being. It is what it is!
Thank you to the Selection Council of Suffolk Coastal Conservative Association for re-adopting me aa their candidate for the next General Election

Does anyone who reads the Daily Mail see it as anything other than one man’s own perverted personal views and a vicious propaganda vehicle? Sadly yes, and it continues to destroy the fabric of the nation.
Media corruption on one front page … Daily Mail whose Editor Johnson wanted to run OFCOM and to whom he promised a peerage doesn’t bother with Johnson scandal but instead carries Johnson article suggesting other countries do something he opposed when he was PM.
I wouldn’t blame the referee. He wasn’t great, but decisions he got wrong were 50 50 calls. He awarded us 2 penalties, and we missed one with a bad strike. They scored 2 excellent goals in open play. I predicted 2 1, but could go either way, and that’s exactly what happened. Pity
In 2016 the British people voted to leave the EU, and 3 years ago we delivered on that historic vote.
Since then, we’ve made huge strides in harnessing these Brexit freedoms.
What a surprise! 127 European drivers ONLY have applied to come to work here, despite the fact that the Brexit Government will ALLOW them to stay here for 5 months. I warned about the Government’s arrogance at the time. The huge attitudinal stance is a embarrassment to us all!
Well, I’m currently watching the CBS Sixty Minutes interview with Harry. We are now half way through at 7.55 pm US East Coast time. He is coming over really well. A different perspective on the rather tragic situation.
There is a great deal of truth in this post below.
At the heart of the rift in the royal family is the British press, not least the Daily Mail. Without it we wouldn’t be discussing Harry and Meghan, Brexit wouldn’t have happened and Johnson wouldn’t have won in 2019. May the British tabloids get the demise they deserve. Karma.
What she means is “It’s vital her particular view on NI politics is heard”, a view that is increasingly out of synch with the majority of the population there.
Congratulations to the whole ITV Racing team, who in the very difficult circumstances put on a great show for the viewers in yesterday’s Two Thousand Guineas broadcast. Looking forward to more coming, especially Royal Ascot!
So this disastrous Tory/Brexit government that have screwed up everything they have touched (apart from maybe the Covid vaccination rollout) and will leave the country bankrupt, want to take over regulation of the one great success story we have, our football. Heaven help us!
Unbelievably depressing to read in The Daily Mail that the majority of Brits support the disgusting trafficking of refugees to Rwanda, but it’s easy to see how this can happen with propaganda machines like The Mail. I assume Nazi Germany in the thirties had a similar newspaper?
Brexit is costing the UK economy £100 billion a year
New analysis by Bloomberg Economics reveals the effects of leaving the EU span everything from business investment to hiring:
“We are a small country. We have aggressive neighbor. There's no other choice and possibilities for us but to stay in European Union.”
Sanna Marin said that the conservative True Finns Party’s goal to leave the EU would create a catastrophe.”
Wow! You don’t get too many days like that!
After the great run by Wonderful Tonight at Longchamp, Acapulco Gold hacks up in the listed feature at Vichy. A SPS homebred filly by homebred Bungle Inthejungle out of Velvet Revolver, and a half sister to Goodwood bound Ken Colt!
Crisis of confidence in the police, empty supermarket shelves, queues at petrol stations, pigs being destroyed, vegetables rotting, rising COVID cases, the tragic scenes in Afghanistan, accusations of corruption, cash for peerages. Why are the Government still ahead in the polls?
Would one of the media organisations inc BBC telling us that the fuel crisis and truck driver issue is a “Europe wide problem”and not remotely connected to Brexit, please show us some photos or footage of empty petrol stations or supermarket shelves,in Germany, France, Spain etc!
