Husband to Craig, Executive Director Ohio Alleycat, Former President Cincinnati City Council, & Cincinnati’s only Obama White House Champion of Change.
People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
Ohio State Representative Candice Keller (represents Middletown, Ohio) says the shootings happened because of my marriage to Craig.
And marijuana.
And "transgender"
And "drag queen advocates" ME AGAIN!
And Obama
And Open Borders.

I’m told the police have arrested
@Enquirer
reporter Pat Brennan. We cannot arrest members of the press. This is not OK. I have calls into the city manager and police chief. The constitution guarantees a FREE PRESS!
@hcso_org
Should have been replaced with American flag immediately. Not replaced with a politically charged blue lives matter flag when thousands are protesting in our streets because
#BlackLivesMatter
Sheriff Neil has only made things worse. Again.
Very much appreciate the Police Chief's statement here. I can't imagine a scenario where it would be acceptable to use a taser on an 11 year old child because she was taking food.
I’ve talked to both the City Manager And Police Chief and they have assured me that
@Enquirer
reporter Pat Brennan will be released and any officers involved in his arrest will be disciplined if appropriate. Which seems 100000% appropriate that they be disciplined.
I’m submitting a motion tomorrow directing the City Administration to make parking meters free outside restaurants who both ask for this and confirm they are selling carry out and/or delivery.
We should all be proud of the
@CincyPD
officers who responded this morning. By every account, they were on the scene as fast as humanly possible, engaging and taking down the suspect. While they were "just doing their jobs," today they are heroes.
Cincinnati’s Pride crosswalk completely repainted, with paint we originally researched and suggested to administration.
Should last longer than 6 months this time.
*again, no tax payer dollars were used for this. Paid for through private donations.
In a 6-3 vote, Council just overrode Mayor Cranley's veto in order to get 19 city employees back to work and reopen the streetcar.
It should be reopened by the end of the month.
And it will be free.
Not unsurprising, Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Neil
@hcso_org
is only making things worth by replacing the American Flag with the “Blue Lives Matter” flag at the Hamilton County Justice Center. Thank God voters sent him to retirement in the Democrat primary.
The City of Cincinnati and our Police Department will not assist ICE (U.S Immigrations and Customs Enforcement) in ANY WAY in the detainment of undocumented immigrants in Cincinnati.
We will also not give them access to any database.
#StrongerTogether
In a 6-2 vote, Cincinnati City Council just passed a resolution declaring Monday, October 8 as Indigenous People's Day in Cincinnati. We can't re-write history, but we can acknowledge the millions of people who didn't need to be "discovered."
40% of LGBTQ+ youth seriously consider suicide because of this backward nonsense.
I'm a Xavier graduate. I'm Catholic. I'm gay.
Hey
@CoachHuggs
, how about a meeting between you, me, and some other "Catholic fags"?
Do you have the courage?

I am having an ordinance drafted to ban “no-knock warrants” and a motion to ban the use of OC gas and CS smoke in the City of Cincinnati.
Email CityCouncil
@Cincinnati
-OH.gov to let council know if you support these measures.
It's now illegal in Cincinnati to discriminate on the basis of natural hair or hairstyles typically associated with the African American community!
Big win today.
We're a step closer to leveling the playing field so every member of our community can reach their full potential.
Ken Martin. Froze to death on a downtown Cincinnati sidewalk today. We must do better. Just a matter of priorities. More tax money for those most vulnerable. Less tax money for millionaires and billionaires.
Cincinnati Council just voted 7-2 to recommend the City Solicitor drop the misdemeanor charges against those who only violated the curfew. There are some details that have to be agreed to and those arrested and the city, but essentially recommending the drop of those charges.
We broke ground today in CINCINNATI, OHIO on an affordable housing project just for LGBTQ+ seniors.
In CINCINNATI, OHIO!
John Arthur flats, named after Jim Obergefell’s husband, will open next year.
In a 7-2 vote, Cincinnati City Council just banned Bump Stocks in the City of Cincinnati. Thanks to
@PGSittenfeld
for introducing this important piece of legislation.
And, btw, I don't like the word "homophobic." You aren't afraid of me. You just don't believe I (or my family) deserve equal rights under the law. You are anti-gay or anti-LGBTQ+. Thom Brennaman is anti-LGBTQ+. And this is a pattern for him.
You are such a bigoted piece of trash. Luckily, you probably won't run for re-election because you are smart enough to know you'd get clobbered. Fuck off Dusty Ass Rhodes.
I want to be there when the first "suburban Republican woman" who wouldn't vote for President Trump learns her teenage daughter will now have to share her locker room with biological males.
This is gonna be flying in front of Cincinnati City Hall starting Friday at 11am!
Join us as we raise the rainbow Pride flag for the first time in the history of the City of Cincinnati.
A month ago Ohio saw 400 new positive cases/day. Yesterday, we saw over 1,000 in a single day. Hopeful Mayor, under the emergency declaration, will issue mandatory masks in public.
Just signed Councilmembers
@PGSittenfeld
's motion to redirect the increase of funding to the police budget, recommended by the Manager & Mayor, to youth employment and opportunities.
Just signed
@GregLandsman
's motion to permanently close Plum Street in front of City Hall to preserve
#BlackLivesMatter
mural. It's our job as legislators to enact real systemic change, but it's also important to allow artists to express themselves and have their art preserved.
Spent the morning biking around Cincinnati with
@votePASTOR
and a Walnut Hills high school teacher concerned about bike safety.
Great to talk & learn about the importance of investing in protected bike lanes.
I'm hopeful the next Mayor will make bike infrastructure a priority
.
@CincyStreetcar
@CB_Connector
is now open and fare-free!
Council just overrode Mayor's 3rd veto, restored funding to transit fund, all without using money from the OTR TIF.
Use the streetcar without fares, but with masks on!
The Brennaman family are Cincinnati sports icons with a powerful voice in our community, which makes it even more disgusting and totally unprofessional to hear such language used. The Reds have been proud supporters of their LGBTQ+ fans, and this language cannot be tolerated.
First victory of the night, Candice Keller is defeated in the Republican primary.
Keller is the woman who blamed the mass shooting in Dayton on transgender people, Barack Obama, etc.
Goodbye Candice.
I agree with the chair of the Ohio Republican Party, State Representative Candice Keller should resign immediately following her comments blaming gay marriage, among others, on the mass shootings in Texas and Ohio.
A historic moment today.
For the first time in Cincinnati's history, an openly LGBT person is chairing our official Council meeting.
And the first woman of color to chair our meeting since 2003.
Congratulations
@TDennard
*Mayor Cranley and Vice-Mayor Smitherman are absent.
ELECTION DAY IN OHIO HAS NOT BEEN POSTPONED. Don’t buy into the lies and more importantly, don’t share them. Election Day is next Tuesday, March 17. VOTE!
If God called you to go on mission trips to Guatemala, Haiti, African, etc., but not speak out on the murder of black people by cops in America, then maybe it was more of a vacation for you.
City Council just unanimously approved flying the rainbow pride flag in front of Cincinnati City Hall starting Friday at 11am! All Democrats, Republicans, Charterites and Independents supported flying the pride flag!
Wanna give some credit here. In my 8.5 years on Council, the only member of the media who has routinely been to our budget meetings and reported on them, regardless of controversy, is
@917wvxu
's
@JayHanselman
I've asked that the Cincinnati sign on the Convention Center be lite up blue, white and red to support Paris, France and the Notre Dame Cathedral.
The world will come together to rebuild.
Here's something I know for sure.
If more people don't start taking this serious and staying home, the Governor is going to issue a mandatory quarantine, forcing people to stay in their houses.
Period. Cincinnati is leading the way for LGBTQ+ equality. We are on the right side of history and it’s incredibly disappointing to hear Mr. Brennaman use such language of hate when our country is begging for unity.
If you text USPS to 50409 they will send letters to your senators and representative in support of the postal service.
Takes under one minute.
Help save our democracy.
I did it. Fast and simple.
Don’t let
#Trump
steal the election.
#USPS
#VOTE
I agree with Mayor
@JohnCranley
, if we're gonna build a music venue at The Banks, it makes absolutely no sense if it's all indoors. Either take advantage of the location and view or build it in another neighborhood.
We got a call today from a self identified gay man saying he is disappointed that I don't dress better for a gay man and that I was wearing "summer clothes" in the photo in
@Enquirer
on Sunday and it's winter. This may have been my favorite constituent call. Sorry Not Sorry.
Dear
@Delta
I’m on flight DL2715. There was a woman who refused to sit in the couch seat she bought. Demanding to sit in comfort/business without paying. Your flight attendant Tonya was the most patience and caring person I’ve seen deal with an awful person. She deserves award!
For the first time in the history of the City of Cincinnati, we will raise the rainbow pride flag in front of Cincinnati City Hall this Friday at 11am. Please join us.
Thanks to a unanimous vote from Council, I am proud to be the new President of Cincinnati City Council.
Also thanks to Mayor Cranley for appointing me Chair of the Equity, Inclusion, Youth & Arts Committee.
Big day and was incredible to have my husband Craig Schultz swear me in.
Dayton, Kentucky just unanimously added sexual orientation and gender identity/expression to their non-discrimination law!
Dayton, Kentucky! Only the 12th city in Kentucky, out of like 60 to make it illegal to discriminate against LGBTQ+ people.
Thank you Mayor Ben Baker!
Mayor Pete Buttigieg proved to every single LGBTQ+ kid in America that if you have good ideas and work really hard, you can run for the highest office in the land.
While Pete isn't going to be President this cycle, there are some big things coming for him & our community!
Thanks to everyone who pitched in to have this inclusive Pride flag made.
It will fly in front of Cincinnati City Hall the entire month of June.
It was made by The National Flag Company, a small business in Over the Rhine.
I am developing a 30 minute "101 government for kids" lesson and am willing to FaceTime with your kids to give you a little break in the coming weeks.
If you're interested, let me know!
I can adjust for ages.
I don’t know who created this meme, but I am living for it.
Should have been wearing mask. was out for a walk, social distancing, came across protest. challenged me to join. did for a couple mins, arm to arm, then continued marching for hours socially distancing.
Confirmed with City Manager that we will continue to run the Streetcar (without passengers) in order to avoid $1,000,000+
to restart it if we just let them sit in garage.
Cincinnati's population has grown by almost 2% in the last decade. That may not seem impressive, but we were losing population every single year for 65 years prior to this. We're on the upswing!
