The belief that refineries will lead to cheap PMS is not supported by facts. Nothing major produced in Nigeria has ever been cheaper than the foreign alternative. Not sugar, rice, textiles, flour, or even cement. Importation of PMS will be banned and we will pay more eventually.

I am tired of the myth that refineries in Nigeria will make PMS magically cheap and solve the subsidy issue. USA has crude oil and multiple refineries, yet PMS is about 700 naira per liter. Refineries will not solve the subsidy issue. Only political will and good policies can.

I love the hypocrisy of the FG of Nigeria. When the economy contracts it's because of falling oil prices and not their fault, when those same oil prices rise through no efforts of theirs, they claim all the benefits are due to their deft moves. Haba!!!

During my meeting with FICAN on Monday I recommended that Nigeria ban all clothing sewn abroad after 3 years. We can embark on a massive training program for tailoring during the transition period. This could provide employment for many of our idle youth.

According to INEC there is a 700,000 difference between Accredited voters and total votes cast.Given simultaneous accreditation and voting ,that difference needs explanation. People will not wait for hours for accreditation and then walk away from the 5 minutes needed to vote.??

We must adapt our response to this crisis, as most Nigerians live on a day to day basis. We cannot blindly import Chinese or American solutions. Death by starvation is just as bad as by virus. FG must create and distribute food packs as a matter of urgency. We need thinkers now.

Can remittances build bridges, roads, power plants, infrastructure? If many people buy generators with remittances for example, wouldn’t that drive up the price of diesel? They may be necessary but focus should be on economic growth and productivity

@ChikeMustafa The World Bank said that Nigerians remitted $22billion home in 2017. Are you saying that that amount is a chicken feed? That figure was almost 80% of our 2017 national budget. If we didn't oil to sell ro earn foreign exchange, I can't think of a better fx earner.

Incoherence. 4. Everybody in 2015-APC/PDP agreed that 3million jobs needed to be created annually to bring unemployment to acceptable levels. We have instead lost 4 million jobs annually in the last 3 years. How can we trust APC now on jobs, given their dismal record so far?

Much of this damage was done during Kemi Adeosun’s disastrous tenure as Minister of Finance. The current MOF was dealt a terrible hand by her immediate predecessor and has been valiantly trying to stop the bleeding. Will be tough but she deserves support.

Incoherent economic policies— 3. Debt service to FG revenues was about 30% in June 2015. In June 2018 it is over 60%. At this rate, all FG revenues would be used for debt service by 2021. No money left for salaries, or for capital development. NEXT LEVEL we can’t afford.

I would advise the FG against any precipitate retaliation against this new USA visa policy. We need the USA more they need us, and a quiet dialogue is the best course. Trump will not be President forever, and we must be careful not to burn any bridges.

The currency adjustment was inevitable. The naira adjusts downwards by about 40% every 5 years. Many warned her against this recklessness. Now we all have to bear the cost and hope there is no further downward adjustments.

Absolute nonsense. The amount loaned to distressed banks was 620 billion naira, which was almost totally repaid by AMCON to CBN minus a few waivers, in 2010/2011. This is how policy makers are being misled by an ignorant/mischievous few in this government.

It's actually much worse than that. When the devaluation finally happens, the debt service to revenue ratio could climb to 90% due to the short-sighted policy of borrowing in dollars championed by Kemi Adeosun.
