Amazing that a chip bricked in 46-yr-old Voyager I, preventing it from sending data, and NASA figured out how to split up and reallocate its functions to other hardware, sending code 15 billion miles away (45 hours round trip!)--and Voyager's back online.

Newton himself said that he could see so far only 'cuz he stood on the shoulders of giants. He was partly being snarky—he referred to his rival Hooke, who was very short. But it is also exactly true, and makes claims about “we invented science and tech” seem kind of silly. 9/9

There are lots of caveats one could/should add, esp. that emissions have to go to zero, not just fall, & that some gains are because the US outsourced manufacturing to places like China. Nonetheless, this represents very real gains--we haven't "done nothing about CO2."
