Our talented students took to the stage for a full size production of ‘Around the World in 80 Days’. Their performances were outstanding & the cast were such a credit to the school. The troupe was made up of students across all year groups who attend Drama Club or do GCSE Drama.
Our brilliant badminton team put on a great performance in the Derbyshire final at Etwall leisure centre. They narrowly lost out to Ecclesbourne school with a score of 3-2, leaving as proud runners up. Well done to an outstanding team. 🏸🏸🏸
Our Year 7 footballers have been working hard this term, with training after school every week. The team performed brilliantly at the High Peak futsal 5-a-side tournament in New Mills last week, finishing in second place. A fantastic effort, well done! ⚽️

We've left a small section of the school fields to grow wild and here are the results after only a couple of weeks. It’s lovely to leave this little section to grow naturally and we can see that the local wildlife is benefiting from the new flowers and longer grass already. 🌼🐝
A group of Year 10s visited the The University of Manchester last week. They took a tour of the campus, including a lecture theatre, the Students’ Union and the amazing Manchester Engineering Campus Development (MECD). Looking forward to taking another group in May.

A group of Year 10s visited Stockport Grammar School to compete in a science competition. They took part in challenges in Biology, Chemistry & Physics. The students investigated the use of antibiotics, examined samples for a titration challenge & constructed an electromagnet.
Our school musical, Matilda JR, was a massive success and we are so proud of our young performers, they were incredible! The cast worked so hard learning their lines, practising the choreography, singing and developing their characters. We have some very talented students! 🎭

Year 7s took part in a special book swap Secret Santa this week. They all chose a book they've enjoyed - or one that they feel needs sharing - to give to a fellow student. They were beautifully wrapped and delivered in school, with every student taking a book home for Christmas.
Year 7 have been spreading Christmas joy by writing some lovely letters to local care home residents. We were thrilled to get a call from a 95-year-old whose wife had received a letter. He told us it had made their Christmas. Small acts of kindness can make a big difference 💕

It has been fantastic to welcome 190 new Year 7 students into school today. After an induction session with their tutors this morning, they’ve been enjoying normal lessons and behaving as if they’ve always been here. Great to see so many happy and confident new students.
Our John Muir Award group joined the Peak Park Rangers to help clear vegetation from Hob Hurst’s House on Beeley Moor. Their hard work will help to preserve this unique square burial mound which dates from the Bronze Age. Well done to this great group of students.

Congratulations to our Year 8 junior boys’ cross country team who qualified for the English Schools national finals at the weekend. They competed in Leeds, finishing brilliantly in third place. The team will now go on to represent the Midlands in this very prestigious final.
Year 9 students were set the task of lighting a scene from a famous play or film as part of their remote learning work for Drama. Using items they found at home, they came up with some really creative ideas, producing scenes from Macbeth, Dr Who and Harry Potter. Great work!

A group of Year 10s visited London to experience a performance of 'Much Ado About Nothing' at The Globe Theatre, enhancing their study of Shakespeare’s plays as part of their GCSE in English Literature. They also walked 40,000 steps while sightseeing and visited Madame Tussauds!

After our table tennis team’s great success in the Derbyshire final, Joe C has gone on to win the under 16s individual title! Joe, who is in Year 9, is clearly a talented player and will now go on to the regional final next month. Well done Joe!
