Due to the hard work of all the cooperating agencies' ground & air resources have stopped the forward progression on Mile Marker 132 fire. The 20-acre fire started just East of Hwy 97, north of Cooley Rd & south of Beechcraft Ln. All aircraft released by 7:20pm & now mopping up.

Shout out to the person who just reported an abandoned campfire & put it out. Campfires are not allowed on federal lands in Central Oregon except in designated campgrounds. We have extreme fire conditions and resources are spread thin and working hard. A spark might take a life.

Four Central Oregon Rappellers have knocked down incident 491 on the south side of Maiden Peak on the Crescent RD ( @DesNatlForest ) with some support from strategic helicopter bucket drops to cool hot spots. Nice catch, Rapps!

Big “win” for firefighters today was holding incident 423 east of Meissner Sno-park on the @DesNatlForest to 1.6 acres. This has been lined and has a hose lay around it for firefighters to begin mopping up. They’ll work through the night to seek and extinguish spot fires as well.

Prineville District BLM is now in unified command of the Milemarker 132 fire which started this afternoon & is burning between Bend & Redmond. The fire is showing a rapid rate of spread with spotting ahead. Multiple aircraft have been ordered and air attack is currently on scene.

The #JuniperCreekFire is now approx. 150 acres. Dozer line has been constructed around 2/3 of the fire. Crews will continue to work on the fire overnight. The Type 3 IMT will assume command of the incident this evening. Evacuations remain in place. Cause is under investigation.

Yesterday on the #darlene3fire , IC trainee Newey, toured BLM & FS lands that had previous fuel treatments in the fire area with Senator Merkley’s staffer Gavin Coble. These photos are examples of the significant difference in fire intensity between treated and non treated areas.

The #SwampWellsTrailFire on the @DesNatlForest near Boyd Cave is now 70% contained. A local Type 4 Incident Management Team has taken command of the fire and will continue mop up operations until full containment is achieved.

Emerging incident east of La Pine on BLM managed lands near Darlene Road. The fire began at approximately 1:30 p.m. It is now approximately 10 acres. Initial attack resources and air tankers are responding.

The smokejumpers working the Pete’s Lake Fire in the Three Sisters Wilderness are getting some help! Better air quality means the addition of a hotshot crew and three helicopters that can bring in bucket drops of water from nearby lakes. The fire is now 75 acres and 0% contained.
