I'm the 1st in at least 4 generations who hasn't been killed or had to flee because of being Jewish. My experience is the norm amongst many British Jews.
@stephenkb
in this article so gets it.
Proud to be from a family of refugees.
My dad as an unaccompanied child was taken in by strangers in Kent who answered an ad from his parents. He came to the UK by boat.
Most relatives who didn't manage to flee here were murdered.

Integrity? Albert Speer was a member of Hitler's inner circle, a Minister in the Nazi Government & right to the end claimed he'd been ignorant of the Holocaust that killed 6 million Jews and millions of others including disabled people, gays, Gypsies & Roma people

Many of my relatives were murdered in the Holocaust solely for being Jews. Some also survived due to the extraordinary actions of people who showed the best of humanity 1/
Dear progressives. Don't excuse this, dismiss it or attempt to justify it - deal with it.
Treat it as you would if this was about racism in the Tory Party.
@Simonablake
I realise from your tweets over the last few weeks that your family is going through a difficult time & there's also the challenges of working - but if you feel you have it in you, do get legal advice because his actions are despicable. Take care
My sister-in-law is very ill. Her children (my niece & nephew) who are in their 20s, are the most extraordinary, caring humans - they epitomize love & kindness. They lost their dad (my brother) in their teens. If you have a faith of any kind, do pray for them all.

There are now more than 1500 children in care costing over Β£10,000 a week β equivalent to at least Β£780m a year. "There were only 120 such placements five years ago"
Local authorities are saying private providers are 'holding them to ransom'.
Well that's odd because my complaint about antisemitism was made to the Labour Party in Feb 18 & I'm still waiting for the Party to investigate. Maybe he meant every single one but mine!
Pl read this by
@RachelRileyRR
. She's right. It's nearly a year since I submitted my complaint to
@UKLabour
about anti-Semitism & I've had no response bar an acknowledgement. Tolerance of anti-Semitism is at odds with social justice -all anti-racists need to speak out
Really? Dear reader did you stop caring for your 16 year old son or daughter & throw them into an unregulated provision because you were 'preparing them for independence?' No. Me neither. So let's stop this nonsense for children in the 'care system'.
House of Lords debate on unregulated accommodation. Minister states semi-independent & independent provision is never right for children under 16. But OK from 16th birthday because ... more older children are coming into the care system and they have to be prepared to ... leave.
My dad, a refugee from the Nazis, has phoned to tell me that since he's now too old & infirm to act, it is now entirely down to me to sort out anti-Semitism in the Labour Party!! He's very upset & cross, so Labour Party, please sort this out.
Don't you dare try & use Jews and the problem of anti-Semitism to whip up racism against Muslims. We know your agenda and it's repugnant. Go take a jump
Is it any wonder that Labour can't be bothered to deal with the disgusting antisemitism in their party when they are so reliant on the votes of Britain's exploding Muslim population? It's a question of maths for these people, not justice!

V torn. If I stay feel incumbent on me to challenge anti-Semitism wherever it arises (& it reg appears in my CLP) otherwise am colluding/betraying my ethnicity/history/family. But I get abuse in the process & not sure I'm having any effect. If I leave anti-semites get free rein
I was interviewed by Panorama about my experience of antisemitism but was very relieved that clip wasn't broadcast given the abuse faced by those who did appear. Pleased the Party is finally starting to make amends
Breaking: Labour "unreservedly withdraws" allegations made against Panorama whistleblowers and is profoundly sorrow for the distress" caused.
Labour agrees to "substantial damages" to the seven who appeared in BBC's Panorama.
This week Twitter has been a cesspit of anti-jewish bile & conspiratorial tropes.
2/3 of Jews in Europe were murdered in my dad's lifetime.
There's only 270,000 Jews in the UK. If you see anti-semitic hatred confront or report it. Jews can't & shouldn't have to do this on our own
Those proposing the expulsion motion last night did not bother to let Hilary Armstrong know of their intentions.
As it was, she wasn't at last night's constituency meeting because she had to be in hospital in London this a.m. for a scan following previous cancer treatment.
@HommeDoit
If this is true it is disgraceful. Hilary has served the Labour Party with commitment & distinction for decades, as a former social worker, particularly for the vulnerable. She is Labour to her marrow and if there is no place for her in it, it is done.

At this same meeting Pam Blakelock of JVL proposed a motion in favour of solidarity with Jeremy Corbyn. She blamed the Zionist lobby for opposing Jeremy & of course spoke about the weaponising of antisemitism.
At no time were her comments challenged by the chair.
Local party Dulwich and West Norwood Labour passed a motion of no confidence in general secretary David Evans tonight calling βfor the NEC to take immediate steps to remove him from officeβ. Passed 87-34. Other CLPs passing motion on restoring whip to Corbyn.

I have made the truly agonising decision to leave the Labour Party after 55 years. I can no longer advocate voting Labour when it risks Corbyn becoming PM. I will continue to serve the people of Liverpool Riverside as I have had the honour to do since 1997.
"Rodor Housing & Support said the foodbank is for children who have failed to budget wisely" What? What parent rations their 15-17 year old children who've spent their pocket money to a foodbank? So why is the state letting this happen to children in care?

We did it! Hugely indebted to
@CPAGUK
for taking the case to the High Court re child tax credit & to all who supported the KCA campaign. Judges have ruled children being raised by family or friends-& kept out of local authority care- shouldn't count towards the two child limit
Judges have ruled that the ordering rules on the kinship care exemption are unlawful. Children being looked after by family or friends - and kept from local authority care - shouldn't count towards the two child limit.
This recent wave of antisemitism is scary. My daughter & her friends have had vile old anti-jewish tropes directed at them by people they thought of as friends & acquaintances.
People from all walks of life need to be allies in challenging this hatred.
Earlier today Orthodox Jews were harassed in front of this Shul on 16th Avenue by a group of males yelling βFree Palestine - kill all the Jewsβ.
We are hearing of multiple similar incidents that occurred over Shabbos. These perpetrators must be brought to justice.

If you're stirring up hatred against Muslims then you're not an ally to Jews, you're just a racist bigot.
Similarly if you claim to be an ally to Palestinians but stir up blame & hatred against Jews, then you too are a racist bigot.
And I'm sick of both types of racism

Child protection enquiries in England more than doubled (125% rise) between 2009/10 & 2019/20. Do we really think abuse rose 125% in 10 yrs? Or are we too often now seeing families entirely through a lens of risk, blame & CP when what some just need is effective support?
The mental health toll on families when babies and children are taken from parents wrongly accused of abuse is striking. Every mother Iβve spoken to so far has some form of post-traumatic stress.
Many also worry about the lasting impact on their children.
My flatmate went to a clothes shop but wasn't wearing her glasses. She was feeling anxious because some people weren't social distancing. She snapped & told someone not to stand so close to her - until she realised the someone was her own reflection in the shop mirror!

This week, we're just looking at one story.
And it's an important one.
This is the story of private equity firms and sovereign wealth funds, directly making hundreds of millions of pounds off children's care, at the UK taxpayer's expense.
My belief in social justice and my ethnicity/identity go together, I can't vote for one and turn my back on the other and visa versa. And that means I feel broken hearted tonight

Three quarters of England's children's homes are now run by private companies-12% rise in the last year.

is right - & highly vulnerable children are being placed by the state in barges, caravans or even a tent.
If that's how a mother or father behaved would the state we think them a fit parent?

Private companies running children's homes & fostering are making huge profits from children in care. It's immoral, it sucks up scarce public funds & most importantly it's not working well for children. The system needs a complete overhaul.
