"And we wrapped, and David and Gillian stood in that room together alone and held each other for a good 5 minutes. They didn't talk, they didn't move, they just held each other, tears running down their faces. It was a very touching moment. One I'll never forget."
--Kim Manners
"One of my favorite scenes is when Scully saves herself, but Mulder is there to witness this. For all her attempts not to show him her fear, she finally breaks down and shows it to him, and it's a very touching moment for the characters."
--Chris Carter
"I thought this scene was really nicely played. I had not met Gillian at this point, and I wrote her a note to thank her for this scene."
--Frank Spotnitz
"I don't think it's live television, Scully. She just said fu*k."
There's so much I love about

but this line just makes me laugh out loud every time.

S: Back in the day, did we ever come across the ability to just wish someone back to life?
M: I invented it, when you were in the hospital, like this.
Mulder admitting he's been in love with Scully almost from the beginning...it just destroys me 😭

Home Again
There's so much love, and care, and concern in his actions. Just the way he takes off her shoes so she'll be more comfortable does me in, in the best way.

S: Mulder, please just keep reminding him you were drugged.
M: Would you stop that?
S: It couldn't hurt.
M: Just stop it!
So married

Her hand on his forearm, her mouth, his mouth, his look of recognition. These images strung together, in just a few seconds of screen time, carry such significance. It's truly a work of art.

Right here. This would have been the perfect moment to just stop. To just hug her and kiss her and reassure her. That's not too much to ask.

My Struggle IV
"This scene. I love this scene...I love that she falls asleep with her head on his shoulder, and he keeps rambling, and there's so much care in the way that Mulder looks at Scully and moves her hair to the side and covers her with the blanket."
--Gillian Anderson
He is
a) so happy to see her,
b) blatantly checking her out, and
c) sure he can impress her with his b-ball skills.
In other words, in love.

Gillian found it challenging acting like David was Morris Fletcher. She had this "intense history with David" with "a lot of energy and chemistry" between them and had to work hard to act as if she didn't know him.
"I remember seeing her on the monitor and thinking how beautiful she looked. It's really remained in my mind as the beauty shot that captures her as well as any shot in the history of the show"
--Chris Carter
"I scripted what they were going to talk about, but I had Mulder & Scully obviously ad lib, because they have wonderful comic timing, and I thought it would play better than trying to script every word."
--Frank Spotnitz
"Mulder rises into view, from where he lies next to her. We take a few beats, giving fans a moment to catch their breath"
And oh, we needed that moment!

I Want to Believe
Gillian: I was proud of David for writing the script. I thought it was wonderful. He was kind and gentle and respectful and humble, and always tried to do his best.
