40 yes GettyImages photographer PGA lifetime achievement in Photo Journalism and LPGA media excellence awards 190 plus mens and women’s Majors and more in golf
I have just retweeted a picture of Seve from
@TheMasters
in 1980 where I described Seve as magical in every picture and to me this is my most magical photograph I ever took of the most charismatic person I have ever met. At home in Pedrena in 1996.
@GettySport
One of the nicest features of the
@dunhilllinks
is that top players can get to play with their fathers or mothers - love this photograph of
@McIlroyRory
walking down 18 on The Old Course at St Andrews. Name me a better walk in golf?
@GettySport
A day late - I kept looking at the colour version and marvelling at the skyscape when
@TigerWoods
hit his tee shot on 18
@TheOpen
somebody was looking down and decided to turn on the sky!
@GettySport
so I tried a black and white conversion let me know your verdict! 😁😁
Head professional
@royalportrush
Gary McNeill had the honour
@TheOpen
this morning to play as a non-competing marker in the first match what a thrill it must have been?! This is his second shot on 18
@GettySport
@TourismNIreland
This wonderful genius would have been 62 years old today. I am lucky to have known
#seve
@seveballesteros
and this was my favourite day with him at home in Pedrena such a happy day! He will always be alive and golf owes him so much! Thinking of his family today.
@GettySport
Eight years ago this magnificent champion succumbed to the beastly illness of cancer. I miss him every day but luckily I have my pictures to remind me of the most stunning charismatic champion of them all. Seve will live forever!
#theopen
@TheOpen
#standrews
1984
Today I will be thinking of
@SeveBallesteros
April 9th each year Seve celebrated his birthday
@TheMasters
what memories he left us of two green jackets and much much more. I’ve loved working on my book most of all I miss his smile.
In the third year of my 38 years shooting golf and this is still my favourite moment! What a thrill to have captured my all time sporting hero in his personal favourite moment of his career! I’m actually so honoured to have caught this!
#seve
@GettySport
Never tire of seeing this
Thinking of the Ballesteros family today.
@SeveBallesteros
what a huge personality Seve was there will never be a smile that lit up a camera like his. The afternoon I spent with him on ‘his’ childhood ‘golf course’ is and probably always will be my favourite work day
@GettySport
I just jumped out of my armchair
@Graeme_McDowell
holes from miles on the 18th green to secure a spot
@TheOpen
@royalportrush
talk about fairy tale well done
#gmac
so so pleased for you!! See you in Portrush 😁😁😁👍👍👍👍
My absolute favourite action picture of my all time sporting hero! Just totally humbled by the comments I get but I always remember that this world would have been a much poorer place without Seve! Wonderful athlete how lucky I was to photograph him and know him as a friend!
Mid December and my drone and I followed the sun Royal West Norfolk GC Brancaster this afternoon whilst the rest of England was shrouded in grey! Winter light can be amazing 30 miles away it was slate grey all day!!
@GettySport
Seve! I miss photographing him so much. But boy was I lucky to have got some major pictures of my all time hero! Thanks for digging up another superb memory!!
How can this course not be holding
@TheOpen
again - just asking is it right to let politics get in the way of what is in my opinion the finest links course in the world - since the
@golfarchitects
changes
@TrumpTurnberry
the greatest golf championship should be back here!
Ten days to go -
@TheOpen
@RoyalStGeorges1
I’m so excited to be back out there it’s been such a long 16 months since I last pointed my lens at the worlds top players - taken today the par 3 16th hole what an ampitheatre it will be, the course looks incredible -
@GettySport
So sad to hear today that one of the nicest men in earth has lost his battle with cancer. Eduardo Romero ‘El Gato’ ‘The Cat’ is a great loss but his smile will forever shine. A beautiful person. So sad.
My first look at
@RLGCHoylake
stunning new par 3 15th hole - 17th hole on
@TheOpen
layout. If the mighty winds blow like last night when The Open returns it will take some prisoners! A mere 139 yards
@golfarchitects
it will pack a punch but the views will be superb
@GettySport

Missing golf!❤️
I love this picture. Seve in red!! First round from memory where he had been all over the course on the back nine! Four days later the Jug was his!
@TheOpen
my all time sporting hero!
@GettySport
The most memorable day of my career with Seve on the beach in Pedrena hitting shots like he did as a boy!! To be there to photograph this - words cannot do moments like this justice!
@GettySport
Seve learned to play golf using a 3 iron that his brother Manuel gave him, and developed a huge variety of shots playing on the local beach 🏖️
#SeveSundays
Of all the photographs I would have loved to have taken
@TheMasters
last week this would be the one. So sad to have missed the chance to have recorded more golfing history. But at least I watched every shot of the final round for the first time in 40 years 👍👍
Finally had a few moments to digest Wednesday night - totally humbled by this amazing recognition
@PGA
@GettySport
what a life I have had and fingers crossed lots more journeys in golf to come. Marvelous to have
@McIlroyRory
pic beside my ‘wall’ and Getty CEO Craig Peters there.
Awfully sad news today that Gordon Brand Jnr suddenly passed away. Only 15 days ago
@TheOpen
the infuriating scallywag took great delight in getting in my background before leaping out of the way grinning like a Cheshire Cat! That was him in a nutshell. RIP 'Brandy'
@GettySport
So it’s the night before and I’m home stewing at not being
@TheMasters
for the first time in 37 years! So many incredible highlights how lucky I have been - am praying 2021 takes me back! What a tournament - just four memories I could have posted 100’s
@GettySport
@SkySportsGolf
43 years ago in May I played with Seve st the my home club The Leicestershire GC instantly he became my sporting hero little did I know eight years later I would take this picture
@TheOpen
what a ‘champion’
#Seve
🗓️ Hace justo 43 años
@seveballesteros
se presentaba en sociedad en el mejor escenario posible con su 2.º puesto en
@TheOpen
de Royal Birkdale. 👏
🗓️ 43 years ago today,
@seveballesteros
showed the world his talent with his 2nd place at
@TheOpen
.
Golfers don’t forget the green-staff who have lovingly maintained your courses through the winter. I was
@RoyalStGeorges1
yesterday morning to see the team at work at dawn - very spoilt to witness up close the preparations
@TheOpen
is not far away
@GettySport
I’m praying for Tiger this evening. Thinking of Ben Hogan and his incredible recovery from horrific injuries in a car accident and going on to win Majors! If anyone can I know Tiger can. Most of all right now I hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.
No words for this other than
@MattFitz94
what a shot. A shot of a true champion
@usopengolf
at the beautiful Country Club of Brookline in Boston. So pleased for you Matt and I’m so pleased for golf that it was such a fantastic tournament and a fantastic winner
@GettySport
I don’t usually put family stuff on Twitter but today is a special day. My father would have been 100 today just an amazing fun dad! Pictured by the Thames in 1961! Happy birthday dadxx
Colin Montgomerie says the 1 million Covid-19 test kits earmarked for the PGA TOUR in the USA must go to health workers before they're used to speed up the resumption of professional golf
So very sad to hear the awful news of the passing of the lovely Barry Lane - one of the nicest men in golf! And one of the great ball strikers I have seen. European golf will miss this man more than one can imagine.
#RIPBarry
Another first visit this time to
@broadstonegc
near Bournemouth another wonderful heathland course. Early season but still looked superb I cannot decide which hole is the signature hole 7, 11, 14 and 15 all stunning! part of a sand belt of great courses
@GettySport
Leaving The Old Course with a heavy heart - almost as heavy as when Tom Watson lost to Stewart Cink. It’s very unfair on a brilliant winner in Cameron Smith but gosh I wanted Rory to win - golf can be such a cruel game - I’m totally convinced Rory has more majors in him
When you get lucky!
@TheOpen
should have finished the 24 hours before I got a simply glorious night and morning
@RoyalStGeorges1
I could wait all year and not get as lucky with the weather. I hope I captured the true essence of these incredible links. Roll on 2021
@GettySport
India - what a country - cannot wait to see what you manage to produce! The whole country is a photographer’s dream - colour everywhere you look but it comes with its own issues! Very envious!
My favorite way to start a year’s photography!
@OxCamGolf
annual President’s Putter
@TheRyeGolfClub
- when the light is right it is incredible and today was one of those days!two days of rain to come-perfect timing - love this event and golf course
@GettySport
It is hard to explain how rare a photograph like this can be! The Emirates Golf Club clubhouse framed against an almost complete Dubai Marina skyline (it’s taken 20 years) a clear blue sky (dust and humidity make this rare) and no tournament clutter
@EmiratesGC
Majlis 18 and 9
When you get lucky shooting a golf course and an already wonderful view of the 14th hole at Real Golf de Pedrena is blessed as an iconic vessel of the Spanish Navy sails out of Santander in front of my eyes. The Juan Sebastian de Elcano heading out to sea
@GettySport
My all-time sporting hero! God bless Seve! Hopefully my pictures will forever remind the world of what a simply incredible star we lost. But his star will always shine brightly!
The stud
This is classic Seve style. Men wanted to be him, women wanted to be with him. That’s how
@JustinRose99
described
@seveballesteros
. This is part of
@Cannonball63
exihibition at
#Albany
and the seve pix is among the highlights
Bonkers afternoon
@TheAddingtonGC
this afternoon and the view over the city of London from the 14th hole just topped it all off! What a project they are on at this brilliant club it’s a five year minimum plan and I’m thrilled to be part of it!
Very sad to hear today golf lost one of the great voices of the game and one of the nicest people I have met
#peteralliss
I spent many hours in his company including a great morning at his home trying to photograph 12 Weimerarana pups so much fun
I was there right behind the
@EuropeanTour
shot of the year totally briliant Seve was just the best. So lucky to have been there close up to witness his genius!

Javier your words at the start of the book are so special. Your dad’s incredible smile shines from the pages. I just hope the book is a fitting tribute to Seve and what he meant to the game of golf.

@GettySport
@Media_IrelandUS
And to think I was really reluctant to go back out after the short lightning delay!!! If your are not out there you can’t get moments like this!! Magic moments!
Loving being in England at this time of the year. Quick afternoon visit to
@WoburnGC
one of my favourite holes the par 3 third hole on The Dukes Course in glorious May weather! How incredible it must to be a member at Woburn three beautiful courses to choose from
@GettySport
So he should be. Shows a total lack of respect for golf outside of America. It’s a shame but I just hope Fleetwood goes on and wins
@THEPLAYERSChamp
Tommy is an amazing young player and I am convinced his time will come sooner rather than later to make Zinger eat some humble pie
Brutally cold today just over twenty weeks until fingers crossed we will all be at
@RoyalStGeorges1
@TheOpen
a view today and what it should look like taken last July of the par 3 third hole! Love links golf!
