The first 5 days after the fall seem to set the tone, at least for the short term. The rough diagram shows how: Basically, if it falls further in the 5 days after, chances are it's still down 20 days later. If it rises, the opposite applies. Note the sample size is only 115 (6/8)

Before today, there were 119 instances of Nifty closing +3% or more in a day. Returns after such days ranged from +70% in 3 months to -40%. The medians are more sedate. Roughly 50:50 on whether returns are positive after 1-week, 1-month, or 3-months.
