Miss Simpson gave a touching Assembly this week. She took us back to when she turned 13 at Canon Slade, as will Y8 this year. She gave advice about keeping going when things are tricky - as teenage years can be!
"I can't go back and say these things to myself, but I can to you."
AMAZING day training Anti-Bullying Ambassadors! ABAs undertook training on impact of bullying, wellbeing and supporting others before presenting ideas to the Head and

A huge Well Done to Oliver D who represented England in the International Combat Organisation World Championships. He got 3rd place, just missing out on a place in the final. An incredible achievement for his first world competition! 🏅

Year 8 Families, we would love for you to join us for our Carol service at The Victoria Hall. This is the first carol service since 2019 so we're super excited to share Christmas joy together again after a long break!
Thank you so much to all our families. We would not be in your position without your support! Any contact home re attendance is ONLY to find out if we can further support - so let us know! We are so lucky to have such a fantastic year group who embody Every Lesson; Every Day! 🥳
Well done to our students for their fantastic attendance last term. We have been recognised as being in the top 10% nationally for attendance.
#veryproud
We're looking forward worshipping together tomorrow and giving thanks for our founder Canon James Slade. This will be even more special as it is Y8's first Founder's Day at Bolton Parish Church (and Mrs Collins' first service since she was a Canon Slade Student!)
Two assemblies this week! The first was from the Bolton NHS team discussing the importance of the HPV vaccine. The second was from our Dept Head Mr Gilhooly who spoke about being your own person no matter what the crowd are doing using the film Cool Runnings!
The Y8 team have started to feel festive! We are decorating the office with "Gratitude Garlands" and have started to tick off our Christmas Bucket List. See how many you can do at home! 🎁🎄☕️

Amazing performance and result from these boys this afternoon beating St Bedes Durham in the semi final of the year 8 elite national schools cup. Can’t wait to watch them perform in the national final ⚽️ ⭐️
We had a wonderful assembly by Mrs Sudworth today reflecting on our SLADIAN value of Success. We thought about how true success has nothing to do with material goods but is actually about being the best version of yourself. How can we be the best version of ourselves each day?
Year 9's football team are town champions for 3rd year in a row! Absolutely incredible! Also heard reports of what amazing attitudes you have demonstrated throughout. Very proud!
Congratulations to our year 9 football team who won the town cup again tonight for the 3rd year in a row. Amazing achievement from all the boys 👏. Good final against
@BSBDSport
school and thanks again to
@BSBDSport
for hosting ⚽️ 🏆
We had a beautiful evening of prayer last night Everyone present wrote prayers for our students and added them to our Christmas tree so that they know they are valued, prayed for and loved 🤲🎄
Here's how we did last week. We're so thankful to our students who turn up and do their best! We see each and every one of you and recognise your efforts!
Let's aim for 97% Attendance and EVEN more 1s this week Y8. Every lesson; Every day! 💪🎯
We have already seen our sladian values in action this year so far in our year 9 students. From students trying really hard to succeed in a lesson that they can struggle with to from random acts of kindness and love.
This week let's think about the A in SLADIAN - ASPIRATION.
Join us in praying for Year 11 as they start their exams next week. May they know Gods peace and love as they go through this stressful time in their lives.
Sending love and positivity!
That's a wrap on this term! Well done Y8.
See the below message from the pastoral team. The staff team have Mental Health First Aiders alongside safeguarding and pastoral teams (and all staff!) ready to support our community!
@CS_Wellbeing
Each week, Y8 reflect on their Steps2Success averages. They write these in their planners each week, and this slide (shown to them in Form) explains it.
It's a great tool to measure high engagement. Sustaining or improving excellent behaviour means the number goes down!
Hope Y8 are recharging over the long weekend!
Mrs Collins went on a 'minimoon' to Ireland
Mrs Braithwaite saw Anfield Stadium
Mrs Hall had quality time with family
Mr Banerji caught up with friends but found time to practice for the school show! Love how many Y8s are involved!
Really pleased that Assemblies can get back under way. We took this chance to reiterate our core messages and values to Y8.
Punctual, Prepared, Polite.
Every Lesson; Every Day
Big focus on kindness this week. "Gossip separates close friends" Proverbs 16:28
BEHOLD! The attendance-O-meter! Each form can see their attendance for the previous week. Forms will be rewarded with 'tickets' for high attendance. The form with the most tickets wins a festive brunch at the end of term!! We begin in earnest on Monday.
Every Lesson; Every Day
The whole staff team are getting behind this.
There are also staff with yellow lanyards who are trained Mental Health First Aiders. Mr Banerji is our MHFA on the Y8 Year Team but there's also Mrs Stevenson, Paul, Mrs Dickinson, Mrs Dodgin and Mrs Haywood!
It’s mental health week 15th-21st May. The focus is anxiety. Students
@CanonSlade
will be participating in Mental Health lessons but for parents and carers you may wish to use
@MindCharity
to talk through your anxieties
Today Mrs Collins led an assembly on what the
#Coronation
can teach us. We learned about the importance of community, hope for a new start, how to be a leader and the importance of faith. We also thought about how we can help our communities in small ways through
#thebighelpout
55 Year 9 students have received a 1 on Steps to Success already today! We are only halfway through the first day of the year and you are already wowing the year team with your amazing attitude to learning. Well Done for being determined to succeed!
