When we traded for Kyrie… I was worried we might feel the need to give him the full 5 year max north of 270 I was resigned to giving him a 3+1 max around 210 We got him starting 9 million lower than max for 3 years (2+1 with player option). This is a good deal

If the Mavericks get Grant Williams to sign an offer sheet at the Full MLE $12,405,000 it would cost Boston a lot in tax. They are already 10 million into the tax with 12 players. The tax on Grant Williams $12.405 would be around $37.75 million. Total cost of $50+ million

I agree that it’s a different game, but, in addition to poss/game, increased 3 point shooting is the biggest factor. Kobe and Luka both took 13 3s. Kobe went 28/46 shots and 20 FTs Luka went 25/33 shots and 16 FTs Lakers took 88 shots and 33 FTs Mavs took 85 shots and 32 FTs

When Kobe scored 82 in the Prison ball era of 2006 the average # of possessions per game was 91 and the league average efficiency was 106. Current numbers this season are 99 possessions a game with an avg efficiency of 116.36 Such a different game.

With Kyrie’s 2023-24 salary most likely being $38,888,889, the Mavericks can use the Full MLE (12.4) plus most of the BAE (3.9 ish) If they sign Powell for more than the minimum it would cut into their spending. Also… trades could happen, so 🤷🏻‍♂️

No body will care but I created an excel formula to automatically calculate Luxury Tax when given how much the team is over the tax line. Took me way too long. I even used ChatGPT to help write the formula but had to fine-tune it. Personal triumph. 🙌

The Mavericks CAN sign Dinwiddie because (A) Mavs are below the 1st apron (B) The Nets didn’t waive him, if they had, then we wouldn’t be able to. If waived by Toronto he is only blocked from signing with Brooklyn I’m not saying they should, just that they legally can

You'll notice that the THJ for Grimes trade has not been officially reported. Check @MavsPR for confirmation of that. This means the Mavericks could expand that trade to loop in another trade they are attempting to make. This helps give the Mavericks more flexibility.

Dirk’s actual approval rating among Mavericks fans is 100%. Two reasons: 1) Dirk Nowitzki is perfect 2) If you don’t like Dirk you are no longer a Mavericks fan
