This stretch of the Nicaean walls have the best materials and workmanship. The palace was probably here and had a Diocletian (or Boukoleon) Palace type of facade overlooking the lake.

Here is what the reconstruction process of the Hagios Polyeuktos sculpture looks like. This piece was excavated in Istanbul and belonged to a pillar of the same type as the "Pilastri Acritani" on Venice. As we know exactly how the pillar looked like this was an easy piece.
