Proud to serve the City of Brunswick, Ohio, United States.
That keeps us busy, so we can't be on Twitter 24/7; to contact us, call 330-225-9111 anytime.
Our schools are our priority. We have been doing active shooter response since before Columbine. And we dedicate 2 officers full-time to work in our many schools. Thank you, sir, for making Visintainer such a great PARTNER in that mission of safety!
There's been a lot of talk about the Parkland shooting and rightfully so, but I wanted to highlight the Brunswick PD
@BrunswickPolice
The day after the shooting, officers visited Visintainer. Not because we called them-they came to check on the kids and make sure all were ok!
THANK YOU to a local couple for making sure that our afternoon shift & midnight shift officers didn't go hungry this evening. Your generosity, kind words, and support are greatly appreciated! β€οΈ
Our School Resource Officer has investigated a possible threat made by a high school student against the high school. The student was arrested off site and incarcerated at the Medina County Jail. There is no further threat and the SRO cooperatively worked with BHS staff.
Officers spot-checked on
@BCSDBrunswickHS
students today as they left school to see if they were wearing seat belts. If they were, they received a certificate good for a gift card!
Brunswick Police are advising: Please Stay Off The Roads.
Crews are working to clear the main roads and sidestreets have not been plowed. Police are unable to respond to cars stuck in the snow. Call us for help if there are extenuating circumstances.
TY for your patience.
The City of
#Westerville
suffered a tremendous loss today.
@WestervillePD
Officer Anthony Morelli and Officer Eric Joering were killed in the line of duty. Please keep our first responders and the officersβ families in your thoughts and prayers.
#WestervilleStrong
Mother Nature: Snow, rain, sunshine, more rain, add some wind.
Memorial Staff: Cannot. Stop. Us!
-Dedication in action as
@BCSDMemorial
supports their kids with a parade!
We're excited to introduce our newest 4-legged member of the Brunswick PD team, K9 Officer Wiley. K9 Wiley is a 16-month old Malinois-Shepard mix. He is currently in training with his new handler, Officer Kyle Flagg, for the next 6 weeks before going out on patrol.
Thank you to our citizens / local groups for the continued support in the forms of cards, signs, and food. Your kindness and generosity is greatly appreciated and we are sincerely grateful for all of the community support! Also, thanks to
@BIBIBOPSTRONGSVILLE
for the food!!
If roads get bad, and you slide off the road, call Brunswick Police at 330-225-9111 if you have damage or need assistance. Only call 911 if there is an injury.
When call volume increases in the dispatch center, it is critical that 911 be available for true emergencies only.
Attention Prom People, including Black River students attending their after-prom in Brunswick: Tonight we are teaming with the Highway Patrol for a "saturation patrol" of Brunswick and surrounding areas for drunk drivers. Let's all have a safe end of the school year!
*****UPDATE*****
Grace has been located and is in the custody of law enforcement. Efforts are being made to reunite her with her family. Thank you to the community and everyone's efforts to attempt to locate her.
UPDATE: June the Dog,
June was brought to us on 5/23 in very poor health. The investigation revealed her owners, Michelle Varga and Cameron McMahon, were responsible. Both subjects were indicted and convicted of felony animal cruelty (Godardβs Law). June has made a full recovery!
Our thoughts and prayers are with the members of the Medina County Drug Task Force as they mourn the loss of one of their officers. He was a great agent and our law enforcement brother but more importantly, John was our friend and he will be dearly missed.
We had the privilege of assisting Grace Baptist Church, along with Santa and his helpers, with delivering presents to five families and staff at Huntington Elementary School. Santa also delivered goodies to two local emergency depts. Thanks Grace Baptist Church!
Thank you to our local Homestead Insurance Agency and the Facebook group Ohio Going Blue for providing our department with food from Jimmy Johns and Corbos Bakery today. Enough for all three shifts! Your generosity and kindness is greatly appreciated. Thanks again!
Our neighbors in Hinckley are advising via fb that road conditions are bad there. SR303 closed between River & State. At this second, roads are OK in Brunswick; only 1 car in a ditch so far, but we expect things to change if this keeps up.
PRESS RELEASE
On May 14, 2019 at 2:47 p.m. The Brunswick Division of Police responded to Giant Eagle located at 3440 Center Road. Officers are still on scene for a report of a male subject with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Further updates will be made as they become available.
We are proud to report that Brunswick once again ranked in the top 10 safest cities in Ohio according to the National Council for Home Safety and Security.
Great description of what to expect the next few days.
Our Service Dept. will be going to two 12-hour shifts to give 24-hour coverage with the plows. But as described below, due to high winds drifting, it will be a challenge to keep roads clear.
Everything you need to know about

βs impacts on Medina County is below β¬οΈ
Please feel free to ask questions! Always love answering. Stay safe this weekend, plenty of updates throughout the weekend.
This video from
@OSHP
is scary, but it demonstrates a few important things: One, bridges and overpasses freeze faster and can remain icier longer than the rest of the roadway. And two, do not stand outside a disabled vehicle on the roadside while waiting for help.

The BHS girls swimming team is on their way to Canton McKinley to compete at states this weekend. There are five girls competing in the 200 medley relay, 400 free relay, 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke! Good luck ladies!

Due to current conditions and the projected snow accumulation, a snow parking ban is now in effect. The parking ban will remain in effect until 10am tomorrow morning.
We have made an arrest in this case. Jordan Stapleton, 22yo from Brunswick Hills, was arrested last night and is being held on a charge of Aggravated Burglary. The gun and mask have been recovered, as well as narcotics.
@hills_police
and Medina County Drug Task Force assisted.

My Son turned 4 today and this officer saw the birthday sign and took the time to stop over and wish my son a happy birthday!
Awesome Job! Thank you!
(My son was slightly afraid π± π)
It would be embarrassing to get a ticket because you were too lazy to wipe the snow off your car. But we have to see your lights and signals, and you have to see out of ALL your windows. And a big pile of snow on the roof can slide down and blind you during a quick stop.
Thank you goes out to one of our local businesses, PuroClean Professional Services, for providing today's deli trays π₯ͺ, sides, and chips, enough to feed all three shifts! None of our officers / dispatchers went hungry, that's for sure! Your generosity is greatly appreciated! β€οΈ
Received a complaint about motorists pulling out of Aldi's and into the center turn lane. This is not allowed and is causing conflict with turning traffic. You can only be in the center turn lane to MAKE A LEFT TURN. It is NOT A MERGING LANE.
Thank you for attention to this.
Join us at the City Council meeting tonight at 7:30 pm as Mayor Falconi initiates the 'Light Brunswick Blue' proclamation. After the meeting pick up a free blue exterior light bulb to display during the week of May 8-16, 2019 to show support for law enforcement.
#LightOhioBlue
Effective January 19, 2019 at 4:12 pm, the City of Brunswick initiated a
parking snow ban. Please remember that for the next 24 hours there will
be no parking on city streets.
In preparation for
@LightOhio
, Brunswick PD has over 150 blue LED light bulbs that are available to residents that want to participate in the Light Ohio Blue event FREE of charge. Lights are available at Brunswick PD.
Thanks for your support!
A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Tuesday afternoon through early Tuesday evening for portions of north central and northwest Ohio. Conditions may become favorable for rapid fire growth. Outdoor burning is not recommended Tuesday.

No trash/recycle collection on Tuesday 12/1 due to the winter storm warning. So it will be like a holiday schedule: delayed 1 day for rest of week.
*pls don't call police about trash collection-we are passing this on due to the late announcement by Republic.
A big THANK YOU goes out to this woman, Beverly. Beverly has spent the last six months creating 40+ bead art photos for all of us here at Brunswick PD. Thank you again for your overwhelming show of support. Everyone here at the Brunswick PD greatly appreciates it!
Happy 99th birthday to Brunswick resident and World War II veteran, Joseph Taylor Jr. We thank you for your service and can't wait to celebrate your birthday again next year when you turn 100!
A huge thank you to our amazing 911 dispatch staff for the great work they do for our community and the support they provide our police and fire divisions 24 hours a day/7 days a week!
Alright, it's time to fess up! Since weβve been doing the
#9PMroutine
, who has realized how easy it is to leave valuable items in your car, forget to lock your car, activate your house alarm, etc.? We hope the
#9PMroutine
is becoming a habit and helping you secure your valuables!
As was tweeted before the storm, drifting snow with this storm will make it hard to get to all 500+ city streets promptly. All Service employees working 12 hour shifts for 24 hr. coverage until all plowed. Sorry, the police dept. can't tell you when your street will be plowed.
THANK YOU for the kind words and sweet treats! There has definitely been an increase in officers using the basement gym in the last few weeks to work off all of this amazing food that has been coming in! Thanks again for all your support! β€οΈ
Reminder: call us at 330-225-9111 instead of coming to the police station. We will try to assist you without you leaving your home. You do not need to come to the station to make a police report. We also will not be sending officers into homes if it can reasonably be avoided.
Due to the sub-zero temps and gusty winds, the road salt has lost its' effectiveness and the roadways continue to be ice covered and treacherous. We encourage you to stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary. We hope you have a safe and merry Christmas!
