Here’s another stabilized sky timelapse, this time at Crater Lake, Oregon. The water was still for most of it, which created a nice mirror for the stars. I also got my astro-modified camera working, which provides more vibrancy in the nebulae in the Milky Way. #EppurSiMuove

Here's another stabilized sky timelapse from Crater Lake, captured on July 21, 2020. That night, the clouds rolled in & I feared they might ruin my footage. However, they actually enhanced the scene & made it more dramatic. I'm really happy with how this turned out. #EppurSiMuove

@belliott4488 @buitengebieden That’s correct. A few weeks ago, an aggregate content account on Instagram shared this video with the caption that I used a “gyroscopic camera.” That wasn’t correct, but it didn’t seem like a big deal at the time, so I didn’t bother correcting them. Now I kind of wish I did. 😅

@iDonato Hey there. I used a Sony a7S with a 14mm lens mounted on an iOptron star tracker. The tracker compensates for the Earth’s rotation by rotating in the opposite direction. I highly recommend checking out Peter Zelinka and Alyn Wallace on YouTube for more info on star trackers.

Guiding Lights A photo taken at Point Reyes Lighthouse back in October 2018. The round light near the horizon is actually a crescent moon. It looks circular due to it being a long exposure, and because the moon’s light was filtered through a thin layer of fog. #PointReyes

@JoePompliano I used a star tracker, which is a miniature equatorial mount. It rotates at the same rate as the Earth, but in the opposite direction. This has the effect of “stabilizing” the sky. Star trackers are normally used for long exposure still images, but I tried a timelapse with one.

@_Astro_Nerd_ 100% about control. If it weren’t, conservatives would be the biggest proponents of birth control, but they seem to hate that, too. They want to impose their puritanical values, & expect women to be meek & chaste. Women who are in control of their own lives are a threat to them.
