Quote of the summer:
“Sports are like the reward of a functional society.” ⤵️
Sean Doolittle frames up MLB’s return amidst a pandemic about the best one can.

The same David Price who personally & generously paid all 220 minor league Dodgers $1,000 in June - AND will now be forfeiting $11.9M to opt out this season.
Shows you how serious some players are taking the entire situation.
The only acceptable take on Mike Fiers goes like this:
Thank you for putting your own name on the line to help baseball eliminate one of its most embarrassing scandals in history.
End of story.
Wow. The last 24 hours: 😢
I spent most all of yesterday responding to texts and calls... the support from friends of past & present was tremendous. A humbling list of names.
Today I'll try to reach most of the comments on social. I certainly didn't expect so much heartfelt
Important to thank and acknowledge all the Coliseum workers last night.
Ushers, concessions, vendors, operations, maintenance… at jeopardy of losing the A’s, but also for many, a longtime workplace.
Interesting how much opponent attention the A’s bleachers are getting this season, because you know, they haven’t been drumming the last 20 years or anything. 🥁⚾️
I’d like to wish Justin Braun & his wife all the best in Philly - always felt like Brauner was one of the most underrated

players. The Flyers are getting a good one.
Crazy to me: how fast Google can basically take control of 250 acres in downtown San Jose to redevelop, yet the A’s have to fight every last battle to build a new ballpark at Howard Terminal.
I made this, and I hope you like it. 😉 The Coliseum has always been such a magic place for me: learning baseball as a kid, and now getting to cover the

since 2005. I know we don’t have a ton more years left here, so I will appreciate every time I walk in the building.
Chris Bassitt reaches down to scoop some Oakland Coliseum dirt after his final strikeout tonight. His 2.36 ERA at the Coliseum is 2nd-lowest all-time, min. 250 IP. He's above Catfish, Vida Blue, Rollie Fingers, Eck, Stew, etc. Trails only Paul Lindblad's 2.29.
Continuing a new

tradition...
Last year Thornton personally picked up Kane at the airport.
Today, Erik Karlsson picked up Gus Nyquist at the airport.
It will get you emotional to remember how Marcus Semien made MLB, how hard he worked, and how special he has become. Bay Area’s own now playing in the WORLD SERIES. Well deserved.
I will miss the trademark “wow”s, the over-glorification of every single catcher to put on the gear, and the fixation during ballpark food cutaway shots. But selfishly I will miss the regular ribbings that came from Ray Fosse.
I’ll put it like this:
If you’re a Sharks fan - and know how much effort and fight and emotion have gone into their last decade specifically - then it’s obvious you’re pulling for the Caps in this series.
