It was unfortunate that the disk space requirement was larger than expected, so some validators failed to perform the upgrade initially. The network is slow as a result. Resharding is currently expected to finish in ~4 hrs

Not all bridges are the same. The rainbow bridge developed by @auroraisnear runs NEAR light client on Ethereum and Eth light client on NEAR (as smart contracts). It is similar to how IBC works and is completely trustless 😃

Number of transactions isn't the best metric for capacity - gas usage is. shows that NEAR is at about 25k Pgas/day and the fees would start go up if we reach around 330k Pgas/day, so there is still quite some capacity 😃

As someone who made some minor contributions to the Rainbow Bridge in the early days, I can say that going the trustless way was not easy: new host functions, light client as smart contracts, relayers, etc. Kudos to @auroraisnear for making it happen!

Mostly notably, in the new version of the Nightshade paper, we switched to a stateless validation design (idea first proposed by @VitalikButerin in 2017). It allows us to achieve full sharding with much better single-shard performance and better decentralization.

The current architecture of @NEARProtocol is basically many optimistic rollups built into the protocol layer. Once zk tech is mature enough we can substitute those "optimistic rollups" with "zk rollups" 😃

Context is important: a mistake were made in the 1.32.0 release that did not include the security patch previously included in the 1.31.1 release. A validator notified us of the issue and we promptly published the 1.32.1 release. There was no new security issue identified

We’ve just updated our @NEARProtocol mainnet node to version 1.32.1. It’s a crucial update addressing vulnerabilities that could result in state corruption and loss of funds. Since only 34 of 211 validators have upgraded their nodes as of now, we urge them to do it asap.
