I’m excited to announce my campaign for Congress because we need a representative who will actually work for us in Washington. Let's bring Iowa’s working families to the table.
I hope you'll join our movement:
As a law professor I have read all 200 cases on abortion in Iowa dating back the 1800s. When abortion was illegal in Iowa, there were still many abortions. The only difference back then is that women died.
I am pro-choice because I cannot be complicit in that. We cannot go back.
My opponent complains repeatedly about the baby formula shortage.
Does nothing.
Today
@RepMMM
voted NO on a bipartisan bill to address the shortage of infant formula in the United States. Unbelievable.
Tonight at our debate
@RepMMM
said that I was wrong that she's taken nearly $60K from big oil and gas. Here's the proof. Nothing will change in Washington, DC as long as we have representatives who are beholden to their large corporate donors.
BIG NEWS: The nonpartisan election forecasters at Inside Elections just upgraded the congressional race in IA-01! Our race is now one of the most competitive in the country. This progress matches the momentum we feel on the ground in the district. Ready to win!
Today I am announcing my campaign for Congress in
#IA02
! I’m running to fight for better health care, better education, and better economic opportunity for Iowans because everyone deserves a fair shot. Together we can win -- let’s get to work!
HUGE NEWS: Today our campaign was added to the
@DCCC
’s Red to Blue program, which means we’re one of the most competitive house races in the country. The heartland of this country deserves national attention.
This seat belongs to Iowans and we’re coming to take it back.
I am so proud and honored to be the Democratic nominee in Iowa's 1st Congressional District! Sending thanks to voters and to all my supporters and volunteers. Onward to November!
#IA01
Yesterday, my campaign shattered an all-time fundraising record in Iowa: in 24 hours we raised over $276,000, the most any federal candidate has ever raised in their first day. When we win next November, it’ll be because of historic moments like this.

about sunsetting Medicare and Social Security...
I'm out knocking doors, talking with voters in Iowa's 1st congressional district.

Almost comical that
@millermeeks
and House Rs are heading home once again with no Speaker if it weren't actually terrible. The Farm Bill has expired, the govt is about to shut down, Israel is in need. They should be working OVERTIME. Do your damn jobs.
I am so lucky to have my beautiful daughter Mira.
I went through IVF after deciding we wanted to try to have another child. It was an incredibly personal, emotional, and expensive experience. Ultimately, my IVF treatments failed.
The Alabama ruling on embryonic personhood
Amazing that you continue to be so outspoken against lowering drug prices. To heck with regular Iowans who rely on things like insulin to stay alive, right? I guess it’s hard to pay attention to your constituents when the Pharma “industry” gave you a hefty donation this year.
We don’t want your national abortion bans and we don’t want your dysfunction and infighting. We want to be heard. I know this because we’re breaking fundraising records with people from Iowa, for Iowa.
@millermeeks
Last week I had lunch at HyVee diner with Senator Tom and Ruth Harkin, great Democrats who are supporting my campaign! They live in the furthest reaches of our new 1st congressional district — what an honor it would be to represent them in Congress!
#IA01
.
@millermeeks
got what she wanted: an anti-choice extremist for Speaker who joined her in backing a nationwide ban on abortion with no exceptions. Now we will all face the conseqences.
I grew up in a rural town of 700 people. Our public school kept our community together. Students need public schools, and those schools need to be protected & bolstered by federal investment. Iowa was a beacon of public education—we can be again.
I’m running for Congress because I believe everyone who works hard deserves a fair shot at getting ahead. I’m ready to fight for
#IA01
and deliver better health care, better education, and better economic opportunity for Iowans. Let’s get to work!
While
@millermeeks
had to rush home to make her political fundraiser, people I spoke with in Keokuk are struggling to find & write applications for grants to reopen their hospital—the nearest one is now 30 mins away. Dismal that Miller-Meeks has left these communities behind.
My opponent,
@RepMMM
, trying *really really hard* to explain her no vote on the infrastructure law. Headline: "Candidate seen promoting big projects she voted against financing." Yep.
Not shocking that
@millermeeks
has fallen in line to vote for an election denier & man who spearheaded a national abortion ban with no exceptions. A man who’s opposed every Farm Bill that’s come before him. Her agenda has nothing to do with governing or representing Iowans.
This poll underscores the momentum behind our campaign. We have a real opportunity to defeat Mariannette Miller-Meeks and help retake the House majority.

HUGE thank you to all our amazing volunteers who spoke with their neighbors and friends to collect signatures to get me on the ballot. We are OFFICIAL!
Here’s to change in 2024 🥂
Can you believe it? In a video from
@AARP
@RepMMM
(at 2:30) claims "we’re...bringing down those drug prices, which I’ve done."
No she hasn't.
She voted AGAINST lowering prescription drug prices! She tells Iowans one thing, votes the other way in DC.
I’m running for Congress because I believe everyone who works hard deserves a fair shot at getting ahead. I’m ready to fight for
#IA02
and deliver better health care, better education, and better economic opportunity for Iowans. Let’s get to work!
In the
@gazettedotcom
endorsement of me, they say
@RepMMM
on abortion: "is trying to have it both ways, opposing abortion while seeking to mitigate the political damage resulting from that hard line stance. We’re not buying it."
Voters, do YOU buy it?
Tn
@RepMMM
spoke on the floor, drawing on her experience as director of IA Dept of Public Health—the same position she had to “abruptly resign” from after false statements about her constituents. & she is asking us to trust her when it comes to healthcare?
Friends,
@DeidreDeJear
is ready to put her smarts and leadership to work as our next governor. So great to hear her share her vision for
#Iowa
last night!
Today marks 10 days until the Farm Bill runs out. Without this bill, 618 Iowa Dairy farms could lose out on nearly $40,000 in monthly payments. 9,400 jobs in IA-01 would be at risk.
Has
@millermeeks
fought to ensure this vital bill is passed? No. Iowans deserve better.
What a fantastic office opening last weekend!! I am so energized and ready for the work ahead. We will flip this seat and give a voice to Iowans across the first district. When we organize, we win 💪
7 times the right to have an abortion has been on the ballot. 7 times voters have said loud and clear women have the right to choose what happens to their bodies. We need a rep who agrees. Proud to be endorsed by

Just got off the stage at the

#IowaStateFair
. Spoke to a great crowd of Iowans on the issues we care about.
My opponent,
@millermeeks
, didn't bother to schedule a time to speak at the state fair. I wonder why not...
Incredibly,
@millermeeks
voted no on the bipartisan CR to keep the government from shutting down—the only Iowa rep to vote no. Congress is already only funding the government a couple months at a time, the least you could do is vote to keep it open.
Rep. Jeff Shipley owes my constituent Dr. Eli Perencevich an apology for his outrageous accusation. Dr. Perencevich has strongly advocated for safety protocols that would return kids to school safely. Suggesting otherwise is a blatant lie.
@JeffShipley77
Iowa leads the nation in wind and solar production. My opponent denies that climate change is a real threat requiring immediate action. When in Congress, I will fight to secure our children’s future AND make Iowa a superpower in renewable energy.
Feeling the energy in the air in Johnson County 🇺🇸 There are so many people in this district who are willing to put in the work to flip this seat and who are fighting back against policies that are bad for Iowans. We’re coming for you, Washington.
#IA01

Appallingly, but not surprisingly, Iowa has turned down federal money to feed our kids over the summer.
@millermeeks
was too afraid to stand up to gov. Reynolds to do right by Iowans, & now we will not see the benefits of a program our tax dollars have already paid for. Instead,
Rs finally got it together enough to keep the govt open but we still have no draft of a Farm Bill & now no speaker.
@millermeeks
is home, job unfinished, while Iowa farmers wait & wonder whether they will get the support they need. But have you heard about her BBQ fundraiser?
Such a warm welcome in Scott Co last night. Even in sub-zero temperatures, Iowans are fired up. We are ready to fight for our freedoms, our communities, and for what’s right. We are ready to fight for our bodies, our public schools, and our democracy.

has recessed AGAIN without doing anything on immigration, the farm bill, or corporate price gouging that continues to drive up the price of groceries for Iowans. In the real world, if people don’t do their jobs, we don’t get paid. DO SOMETHING. Anything.
From the Quad Cities to Washington, America is best when organized labor is strong. Working people have fought for the right to organize and ensure workplace safety. Extreme MAGA Republicans want to roll back our accomplishments. We won’t let that happen.
#HappyLaborDay
My opponent used tax dollars for a large radio ad buy. Strangely enough, directed only at voters in the new 1st congressional district, not the district she currently represents.
@RepMMM
: playing politics with your tax money.
While 18,000 federal employees in Iowa will be furloughed or forced to work with no pay,
@millermeeks
will continue to receive her generous salary of $175,000 through the shutdown. It’s easy to throw Iowans under the bus when you face zero consequences.
This continues to be a huge, and very public, national embarrassment for Washington Republicans. No speaker, poisonous rhetoric, no end to the chaos in sight.
It’s time for new leadership in DC.

I am proud to announce my recent endorsement by
@IowaAFLCIO
. Politicians like Miller-Meeks and her extreme buddies want to defund OSHA, deny job training to workers, deny the right to organize, and deny them the wages they deserve. I will not let that happen.
And
@millermeeks
is off for the weekend again, this time to fundraise with GOP presidential candidates instead of passing a Farm Bill or electing a speaker 28 days out from ANOTHER govt shutdown.
How about giving up your taxpayer-funded travel to Iowa if you can’t do your job?

has taken nearly $1 million from Wall Street. Now, she has signed on to a letter blocking protections for hard-working Iowans saving for retirement against getting ripped off by their financial advisor. Exactly who are your constituents, MM?
It’s disturbing that
@millermeeks
would take us to the brink of a shutdown all while promoting her campaign fundraiser and voting to put Social Security on the chopping block.
The situation at Case in Burlington is worse than I thought. Most people I met have no sick leave. None. One single mom of 4 kids had worked there for 12 years but she can’t take off work if her kids are sick without risking her job. This is why we stand strong with unions.

@IowaGOP
in the House put a bill on the debate calendar that they admit is unconstitutional, all to make a point against the federal gov't. Result: Iowa could lose millions in federal funding. House Republicans need to start thinking about what's best for our state for a change.
.
@millermeeks
& other Washington Rs have co-sponsored bills that would functionally end IVF treatments & ban abortion with no exceptions. Today Senate Republicans blocked a bill that would have protected IVF nationwide.
They are not pro-IVF, pro-women, or pro-family. Period.
Out door knocking for Kimberly Sheets for Warren Co Auditor I spoke with one of our veterans. He is voting for Kimberly because he knows that she will fight for our democracy & the right to vote, which is why he chose to serve this country. Get out and vote Aug. 29!
Curious that my opponent
@RepMMM
voted against the bipartisan infrastructure law when other Republicans work across the aisle to help their constituents.
BIG NEWS 20 airports across Iowa awarded $15M+ federal grant from bipart infrastructure law I supported This investment will strengthen local economy + ensure safety for travelers Happy to see Iowans’ hard earned tax $$ return 2 communities in our state
Yesterday I spoke with UI med students about how they can use their voices and experiences to best advocate for their patients in a state that has passed a near total abortion ban. Glad to know the next generation of our physicians are ready and willing to fight for what’s right.
Our rural counties are hurting. We need a representative who will be a champion for rural residents and invest in broadband infrastructure and the roads and bridges that are a critical lifeline for these communities.

Hamas launched a surprise and deadly attack on Israel, & Netanyahu has declared the two are at war. It is a dangerous time for the legislative branch of our govt to be incapacitated.

So excited to talk with people in Warren County last night & celebrate County Auditor Kimberly Sheets’ win (by a 2-to-1 margin!) against election-denier David Whipple. Seems pretty basic: Iowans do not want an election-denier to run our elections. Guess who

Our current Rep is choosing to focus on the Biden impeachment inquiry instead of preventing a government shutdown.
@millermeeks
, a govt shutdown means small businesses will struggle to get loans and parents will lose their child care. Do your job.

I’m for lower drug prices and cutting costs for people right now. Perhaps you’re worried about Big Pharma because of how much they donate to your campaign & fund your ads.

has worked to pass a nationwide ban on abortion with no exceptions for rape, incest, or the health of the mother. I am proud to be endorsed by
@reproforall
because an overwhelming majority of Iowans support the right to choose. Time for real representation.

As seen in Texas, “exceptions” to abortion bans don’t mean anything. They will let a woman die of complications before letting a doctor intervene. This is not about anything except controlling through fear. It’s about taking away our rights so we can’t fight back.
Iowa House Republicans have just passed a bill that would criminalize the death of an “unborn person,” and that redefines “unborn person” to include embryos from the moment of conception.
@millermeeks
