I’m sick of these articles. Where are the ones about what a serious problem livestock is? Massive subsidies, predators being wiped out, invasive weeds being spread, wild horses close to extinction, the range being trashed, climate change👉🏼drought👉🏼wildfires….
There is not ONE single documented case of brucellosis transmission between buffalo & domestic cattle under natural conditions. Not one, & yet we are going to slaughter these magnificent creatures because ranchers think they *could* infect their cattle 😡
Mustang born in 2017 and pulled from a kill pen. Most likely one of those “good homes” BLM always talks about. The ones they pay someone $1000 to take.
This Thanksgiving, I am grateful for everyone who fights to save our wild horses and burros and to all who fight to stop the slaughter of our equine friends. Thank you for helping to bring awareness and for all you do 🙏🏽
So BLM is rounding up the Onaqui horses in Utah in October. Because there are too many. If you look close, you can see 2 or 3 horses among all the sheep.
My neighbor moved her horses 2 another pasture this morning. My mare has been screaming 4 them all day & won’t eat. This is what it’s like after a roundup - endless screaming & searching for their family members & friends that were taken. Sorrow follows everywhere BLM has been.
900 innocent bison to be slaughtered because of the lie ranchers tell that bison transmit brucellosis to their cattle. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ONE CASE OF THIS IN THE WILD. Vaccinate your damn cows or keep them on your own land 😡
Imagine being this baby and having to lay in filth after you were taken from your home and your mama so cows and sheep could roam free on your land. 🖕🏽BLM.

FFS. How much ass kissing and groveling would you like Biden to do with a bunch of obstructionists? At what point would it be acceptable to you that he does what his voters want him to do?
When you hear BLM say the Onaqui horses are overpopulated and must be removed, here’s a reminder of how many sheep are sharing the horse’s Herd Management Area 👇🏼

BLM puts wild horses and burros in shadeless feedlot-like conditions while they let privately owned livestock graze in their place for less than a nickel a day. The average fee is around $25 a month.
The EPA plans to raise the concentration of atrazine allowed in streams and lakes to 15 parts per billion. That is more than four times higher than what the EPA had recommended under the Obama administration. Trump is killing everything. Literally.
It comes as no surprise that ranchers aren’t happy about native bison (the national mammal) being allowed to graze on public lands. Have you ever seen a bigger group of people who feel entitled to every acre and subsidy?
Dozens of Mustangs & burros are in kill pens awaiting slaughter every day. I guess people are collecting the $1000 for taking them & then dumping them so they can get another one (or 4) & do it all over again. Endless opportunities with all the roundups. Bravo,
@SecDebHaaland
Merry Christmas to all the terrified, cold, and broken-spirited wild horses & burros standing in holding facilities who are missing their families and homes. Bah humbug to BLM and USFS.
Chasing pregnant mares in high temps and running them through an unflagged fence in their own HMA where livestock gets the majority of the forage and water and BLM gave them a certificate of appreciation 🖕🏽
BLM and ranchers always say wild horses and burros have to be removed so they don’t starve and destroy the range. Here’s a grazing allotment I visited a couple days ago. No wild horses or burro has ever been here. Don’t be gaslit.
Bureau of Land Management is always saying wild horses & burros destroy and foul water sources. I’ve never witnessed that in all the years I’ve been following the issue but I have witnessed this too many times to count. They’ll stand in water all day long.
Here’s a prime example of BLM gaslighting the public. They publicly blame wild horses and burros for being “overpopulated” and destroying the range when they know damn well it’s the livestock.
This should be mandatory reading for every member of Congress and it should be clear to them they are complicit in all of this by looking the other way and funding this atrocity.

I love that she stands up there and lies and condones every shitty thing this administration has done and is doing while wearing a necklace with a cross.

: Americans who aren’t ranchers don’t want these trees shredded to make more room for privately owned livestock on our PUBLIC lands. We resent our tax dollars being used to wipe out wildlife habitat & destroy our land.
It’s impossible to explain how hard or long these women fought for these horses. Their dedication is to be commended for this huge, long-fought win! Congrats, WHOA & CAES! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
When armed white people storm into the capitol building in protest of the stay at home orders, they’re good people who just want their lives back’ but when it’s unarmed black people protesting BEING MURDERED they’re thugs and deserve to be shot. 🖕🏼
@realDonaldTrump
My god. Ranchers think every blade of grass and drop of water belongs to their livestock. This is NOT how public lands should be being managed. I want native wildlife on public lands, not destructive, heavily subsidized livestock 😡
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Today the House passed the PAST Act to end horse soring. Not ONE Democrat voted to continue the practice (thank you!), but these 95 did. Remember this on Election Day.
We need to stop equine slaughter this year.
@EkbMary
has made this great list of reps who need to cosponsor and it includes phone numbers. Thank you, Mizpah! Please look through the list and if your reps are on it, call and ask them to cosponsor.
Horse slaughter is inhumane. Shame on Canada for shipping our horses to countries like Japan to be slaughtered. And shame on owners and breeders who fill the slaughter pipeline.
Beautiful 4 year old mare from
@BLMNational
’s wild horse and burro program ships to slaughter on Thursday. She’s halter broken and very sweet.

If you can give her a home, please go here:
“….King learned that the donkey population in the United States was suffering, too. As of March, the U.S. donkey population sat at 14,454, though the number of animals that are killed annually is not known.” Maybe BLM could stop rounding the wild ones up.
“In short, the livestock industry would rather kill wild bison than allow them to share the public lands that ranchers are unfairly, and at tax-payers expense, profiting from exploiting, and that is what has been happening.”
For the love of god, please stop pushing fertility control when there’s no proof the horses and burros are even overpopulated! Why doesn’t every so-called advocacy group bring that up or talk about livestock?

“These animals think and feel like the dogs and cats in our homes, yet they have no names, no expression of natural behaviors, and usually no companionship in the crowded and chaotic environment of factory farms.”
“Isn’t it weird that people living paycheck to paycheck are supposed to have a month’s worth of savings for emergencies while billion dollar corporations are so poorly managed they’re on the brink of bankruptcy after a week of reduced profits?”
This is a national disgrace and tragedy,
@SecDebHaaland
and
@BLMNational
. People are adopting these horses and shipping to auction/slaughter just to make a profit.
On President’s Day, I would like to give a shout out to Richard Nixon for this. No President since him has cared about these creatures or done anything to save them.

@daily_cowboy
: On BLM land in WY, livestock is on 17.4 million acres & gets 1.9 MILLION AUMs. Wild horses share 4.7 million acres w/ livestock & are allocated only 45,540 AUMs. Livestock is also on FS & state land - & yet, not once does the word livestock appear in the article.
It’s time for the owners of the real destroyers to move their livestock OFF public lands and back to their multi million dollar base properties. They can feed them there and stop damaging the land and ripping off taxpayers.

The unjust roundup of the wild horses in the 1,228,739 acre
Pancake complex continues in Nevada where livestock receives 43,344 AUMs of forage and horses only get 7,656. If the HMA wasn’t managed primarily for livestock, the AML for horses would be 4,250 instead of 638.
“The American people share public lands with private livestock ranchers who, in turn, don’t want to share public land with the wild horses & burros that are owned by all Americans.”
Good point.
BLM opening up more fat contracts for ranchers in Oklahoma to stockpile wild horses while ranchers in the west profit from low grazing fees & more grass when the horses are gone. It’s a helluva scam.
This is a classic example of an area BLM says is overpopulated with horses - the Onaqui range in Utah. Video by Guillermo Avila Paz....try to count the horses if you can see them.
Meet Tammy Pearson, a public lands rancher with cows on a wild horse HMA. She’s also a member of the Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board. She can talk about getting rid of horses, but her cows are off limits. She should read PEER’s report on who is destroying the range.
BLM says they have to remove the Onaqui wild horses to “properly manage rangeland resources and prevent unnecessary or undue degradation of the public lands associated with excess populations of wild horses within the HMA.” See any horses?

: thank you for covering this and mentioning Trump’s picks “fundamentally oppose the mission of the department they were asked to lead.” It appears to be regulatory capture & will be the end of wild horses & wild places.
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our friend

are essentially managing wild horses and burros in giant, crowded feedlots while turning public lands set aside for wild horses into giant feedlots for heavily subsidized, destructive privately owned livestock that isn’t fit for grazing in the west 🖕🏽
Actual “humane management” of wild horses & burros should begin with a basis in facts & science and proof of an actual “problem.” Offering things like bait & trap instead of helicopters & PZP w/o proof of overpopulation just doom the horses and free up more forage for livestock.
11 wild horses have died
@BLMWyoming
’s Wheatland facility from strangles and 142 have died
@BLM_CO
’s Canon City facility from disease. This is a tragedy of epic proportion and what happens when you cram thousands of horses in a small area similar to a livestock feedlot.
Bureau of Land Management always says they must remove wild horses & burros to “prevent undue or unnecessary degradation of the public lands associated with excess wild horses and burros”, but that’s a lie. Their own data blames 🐂 and 🐑 for the damage.
