Trans women are women.
Trans women are women with or without surgeries.
Trans women are women with or without facial hair.
Trans women are women regardless of how they have sex.
Trans women are women regardless of whether or not they are performing femininity to your liking.
Trans Day of Remembrance is not a happy holiday for us. Each year weโve had to spend thousands of dollars to help pay for burial transport arrangements of multiple Black trans women who were murdered. We do this through our Homegoing Fund, one of our little known about programs.
Thatโs us! ๐๐พ Weโve payed for over 700 car rides for Black trans women in need! Folks can donate to us so that we can continue to provide this vital service. ๐โ๐พ๐

It is with great sadness we must inform community of the loss of yet another Black trans sister, Alicia Simmons. Alicia was recently found unresponsive in her apt in Philadelphia. Cause of death is not yet confirmed. We send our deepest condolences to her family & loved ones.๐
The Black Trans Travel Fund was launched in June of 2019.
In just 6 months, we managed to redistribute over $30,000 to 300+ Black trans women, paying for over 700 car rides for women in need! ๐๐๐พ
2020 weโre hype to help even more women and in more ways! Letโs get it! ๐ช๐ฝ๐โ๐พ๐

. Each year members of our community come together to collectively mourn the loss of the ever too many lives stolen by transphobic violence, and we see time & time again, those lives continue to disproportionately be that of Black trans women.
How you love Marsha but you donโt show no love to Black trans sex workers? You not fighting for queer & trans homeless youth? You not worried bout Black trans women that have been targeted by police and incarcerated by the state?
But you love Marsha.
Our hearts are breaking from the loss of
#TiffanyHarris
, a dear sister murdered in our own backyard of the Bronx. ๐
This can not keep happening. We can not keep losing our sisters to the hands of violent men. Our communities MUST make a commitment to protect Black trans women.
Black Transwoman, 32 years old Tiffany Harris, was murdered around 1:35 a.m. Sunday inside the 3rd floor hallway of an apartment building on Jerome Ave.
She died 45 mins later at St. Barnabas Hospital.

Sex work is valid work, and sex workers should be given the same rights & respect as any other type of worker who provides a service.
Sex workers do not deserve to be violated! Stop victim blaming them when they are attacked. Sex workers should never be subjected to violence!
There are so many incarcerated trans folks forgotten about in the system. One of our comrades knows a sibling who didnโt get a visit for 10 years. Get connected with our incarcerated kin. Write them. Put money on their books. Figure out a budget that works & do it every month.
Black trans people should not have to bleed out details of our traumatic experiences to get support from you.
Pour into Black trans joy, rest, laughter, healing, pleasure, wellness. Centering us through a lens of trauma is pity, not camaraderie.
To continue supporting folks on the ground, Black Trans Travel Fund, along with
@4THEGWORLS
,
@BTFAcollective
, &
@TheOkraProject
are each pledging $1000 towards bail for any Black trans folks arrested during this eveningโs protest. Weโve got your back!

If you are NOT a Black transgender woman, DO NOT apply to the Black Trans Travel Fund! Find other resources!
The amount of time staff spends vetting applicants because cis people, non-Black people & trans people who arenโt trans women stay trying to apply is sad & disrespectful.
Itโs officially Pride month, and we are not only in the middle of an international health pandemic, but also in the middle of a war against a capitalist, white supremacist police state.
How are you supporting Black trans women in this moment?
Thanks to the increased support we received during Pride month, weโve officially tripled our monthly budget! ๐
That means instead of 50, weโre paying for rides for at least 150 Black trans women every month! (75 every two weeks)
Applications now open on the 1st & 15th! ๐โ๐พ๐
A lot of people claim to be in support of Black trans women, but how are they showing up for them in tangible ways?
Support is more than just tweeting a hashtag. Are you building community with Black trans women? Are you ask about their needs? Are you redistributing resources?

! ๐ So often trans women are excluded from lesbian spaces. This your reminder that trans women are women & are valid members of the lesbian community! To all the transgender lesbians across the world, we see you, we love you, we celebrate you!๐
As an organization you can literally choose not to work with police. You can advocate against their presence at events youโre requested to work on. You have power to demand alternatives and provide principled ultimatums. As members we have the right to request this of our orgs.
A lot of people think we just pay for car rides, but weโve done & do so much more.
Weโve been helping girls pay for flights, passports, TSA Pre-Check, Visa applications and more. Cars. Books. Care packages for recently incarcerated women. We work nationally & internationally.
We are helping Black trans women get home safe in the pandemic. Itโs a tangible step to help protect Black trans lives in a dangerous time โ before itโs too late.

We have had an influx of people who are not Black transgender women applying for our different programs this month.
So to be clear, our programs are specifically for Black trans people who experience transmisogyny. If that is not your experience, please donโt try us.

If youโre inviting Black trans women to a function, are you considering how theyโre getting home?
Cuz if your inviting them out to a random hood, and youโre not escorting them home or putting them in a car to make sure they get back safe, donโt be mad when they donโt show up.

we honor the native peoples of this land. We denounce the glorification of colonization & violence of U.S. imperialism. Today & everyday we fight for a world where trans, two-spirited ppl & other marginalized genders are loved, respected & valued.
Weโve said it before and weโll say it again:
If youโre asking a Black trans woman to come to a physical space to speak about ANYTHING, you better be making sure she at minimum has the means to get there and back safely.
