It's finally ready, celebrating
#WorldChampionAshKetchum
with a Smash Ultimate style montage of Ash's Pokemon over the years!
Been working on this for a few weeks so give it a watch if you can 🙏

I love the implication that Ash actually kept in touch with May after they went their separate ways. Seems like these days it's always a guessing game lmao
god i love when characters abolsutely lose it and literally turn into monsters so then their friend/s has to calm them down and knock some sense in them in an emotional heartfelt scene, that shit is hard as HELLL

I was bored so I made this
Levels work very different in the anime of course, but I noticed that postgame Champions usually tend to fall into the mid to high 70's so I based it off of that
I'll always love little details like this with Ash and Brock's relationship
It's especially cool how they mention Ash making the top 4 for the first time, small things like that make the series feel so well connected
Man but like the way Ash genuinely doesn't understand what's wrong because it's just in his nature to always support his Pokemon... it's everything, straight up masterpiece of an episode
So I just noticed this, it's pretty cool that they sneak in little details about how Paul has bonded with all 3 of his new Pokemon.
He thanks Gyarados and Metagross for doing well despite losing, while Garchomp knows Draco Meteor, a move you need high friendship to learn
Ash vs Paul has the best plot and the most engaging opponent
Ash vs Kukui is the best overall 6v6 at showing off Ash's entire team
Ash vs Leon is the biggest achievement and has the best individual moment
I think that's the best way to sum it up

Nah but it's still so raw that ELECTIVIRE was the one to stop the ref from calling it over
It might mirror its trainer's personality but they really nailed how to make the Pokemon feel like a character in its own right
Ngl I still think it's cool how Paul was first interested in Pikachu for knowing Volt Tackle, feels like the writers' way of showing how experienced he is by implying it's a high level move
See what I love about these battles is how they show Ash's trust in his Pokemon's feelings isn't necessarily the best choice and can actually be used against him
He's always gonna value what his Pokemon want over his better judgment but it's never been deconstructed so well.
Was watching Cynthia's debut again and it hit me how Cynthia was the first person onscreen to ever show Chimchar real kindness... even before Ash, since he'd mostly just been used for battle before that point. Things like that make her interest in him that much more special
Love how Ash keeping his Alola Pokemon in the region means they can always visit their old friends whenever. It's pretty clear the sense of community in SM is a big reason why he did it
I LOVE LEITMOTIFS
I LOVE WHEN YOU CAN FEEL A CHARACTER'S PRESENCE THROUGH MUSIC ALONE. I LOVE WHEN IT REFLECTS THE STORY AND DEVELOPMENT IN A SUBTLE FASHION, LEITMOTIFS ARE SO COOOOOL
I was watching a video about Infernape and damn, the Lake Acuity loss hits even harder when you realize Chimchar tried to 1v5 against the same mons trying to force Blaze out of him
Small thing I noticed but I like that Pikachu's always directly telling Ash whenever he wants to come out against Paul, just a subtle way to show how much he values his Pokemon's opinions
The scenes where Paul opens up to Brock are so good. Those older brother vibes Brock gives even though he supports Ash's views must've reminded him of Reggie, though in a different way than Ash. Always liked that Paul had distinct interactions with each member of the trio.
I love how Gliscor actually physically grew much bigger over the course of the series, it's such a neat passive detail I didn't notice for the longest time
Yk I don’t give MPM praise very often (and for very good reason, it’s hot ass) but one thing I will give it credit for is a lot of the voice acting cause damn the deliveries from a lol of the characters make this show fuckin hilarious sometimes-
Battle Frontier really doesn't get the credit it deserves
Both Ash's biggest achievement up to that point AND the first time he was ever offered to end his journey outright. It doesn't get a ton of focus but turning that down says a lot about who he'd become
I think there's something poetic about how Paul chose not to enter the PWC, yet is clearly WAY stronger than he was in DP
He's able to find contentment outside of winning and yet can easily hold his own vs Masters 8 Ash. It almost feels similar to how Ash grew in SM

I think it's crazy how Lillie and her family were the first characters in the anime to get an actual happy ending
No loose ends, no reset button, nothing. They wrapped up the Aether storyline with a true conclusion and gave them all genuine closure
