Yo theres this fighter where your crazy offensive options are tied to your defense. Where you get mixed into checkmate situations after burning out. Where movement is super important and the corner is very scary. Thats right its Touhou Suimusou for the Nintendo Gamecube.

They switched to UE mid development. They hired a new person for designs. The team grew from 10 to 50 since their previous game. Followed this team for a long time and while theyre out of touch, there is no game easily made. Cheap asset flip narratives are harmful to creatives.

@ScrawtV Funnily enough you literally answered your own question. Fighting games are not popular, so they need extra help appealing to newcomers. Plus perceived difficulty is much different from real difficulty. Smash bros is a good example. The average player is not intimidated by it.
