Cannot overstate how much I recommend reading the Higu VN twice over (or more), the second read was enjoyable in a completely different way -- almost every scene can be read in a new light and with much deeper understanding once you know the full story and answers to the mystery

Just something interesting to note: while Mion never (naturally) develops Hinamizawa Syndrome in all of Higurashi, it's not that she's never committed murder. In Yoigoshi, she (presumably) kills a member of the Sonozaki group after finding out he assassinated her mother.
