Incitement to riot is an extremely grave criminal offence, which would ordinarily lead to a criminal prosecution and (on conviction) a long prison sentence. When Brendan O’Neil says people “should” riot, he appears to have been committing this offence.

In Scotland, the courts rule that a firm belief in independence is a protected philosophical conviction, so any unfair treatment of a pro-independence politician is unlawful discrimination. In Spain, the courts just lock up pro-independence politicians.
