Some of my friends profoundly mistake my concerns about Trumpist Christian Nationalism as being primarily political. That may be a factor, but is not at all my main concern. I grieve for how it has corrupted the Church and our Christian witness. This is a deeply spiritual issue.

As a follower of Jesus, January 6 is a grievous anniversary for me, where many people claiming the name of Jesus — carrying banners with His name, singing songs about Him, praying, shouting false prophecies and declarations — violently participated in a planned coup attempt.

I honestly feel very badly for Barron Trump. His father is manipulative, mendacious, and monstrous. After all of Trump’s shrieking about having to miss Barron’s graduation, and Judge Merchan changing the schedule so Trump could go, Trump chooses to go to a fundraiser instead.

Prayers needed … I’m back at the hospital today, this time for my Dad, who is needing treatment in the ER for electrolyte issues. My own recovery from yesterday’s surgery seems on track. I’m tired and in some pain. I’m so thankful for my wife, who is such a blessing in all this.
