The real power of
#Bitcoin
lies not just in its code, but in its community.
That’s why we started the Bitcoin Students Network.
Here’s the story of how it came to be and why it matters:
We’ve now established connections in 31 countries, and some of our members have already started to get job opportunities and internships in the industry.
We believe Bitcoin is, and always will be, a community-driven endeavor.
If you want to support us, give us a follow, engage with our content, and subscribe to our substack where we'll be giving updates! (link below)
If you’re in college or have kids in college, get involved!
Our DMs are open 😁
Our founders
@21MMforthe21st
&
@arshmolu
are both full time at school and/or work, so it hasn’t been easy getting BSN off the ground.
But the struggles have been worth it so far.
The idea for BSN started with a conversation with
@lucasdcf
Together we recognized a gap in student engagement and envisioned a global network that could bridge this gap.
Our initial steps included setting up a mission statement, goals, values, and initiatives.
While everyone else focused on technology, we saw a need to improve Bitcoin’s social layer.
After all, it was a network that created Bitcoin, and it’s a network that will sustain its future.
The tech can't thrive without people, and Gen Z is the future of Bitcoin.
We encourage everyone to join or support the Bitcoin Students Network to help nurture the next generation of Bitcoin advocates.
Thanks for taking the time to read our story!
Before BSN, Bitcoin’s student community focus was almost non-existent.
Nothing targeted students like other blockchain programs did.
Everyone says that “Bitcoin has no marketing department,” but it desperately needed one to reach these students.
We also made spreadsheets to track the current educational landscape, and searched for a website designer to bring our ideas to life.
We quickly realized we could benefit from those wiser than us.

We ran into a bunch of technical bugs during all this, and just barely got the site up before all our efforts culminated in a huge launch at Bitcoin Atlantis 2024, which was our first big milestone.
But, building BSN from the ground up wasn’t without its challenges.
As we prepared for our first major launch, we had to unify the vision for the initiative, decide on the name and logo, and…
6/ We are a peer-to-peer network that is decentralized, powered by a collaborative community.
The BSN boasts a powerful advisory board of 12 industry veterans: leaders, entrepreneurs, developers, professors, and community champions.
We needed to reach out to campuses across the globe and activate our first “nodes,” which would serve as community hubs for students.
We also needed to set up essential infrastructure like our website, social media accounts, and
@BtcpayServer
10/ Community champions
@Caralie_C
&
@niftynei
join our Bitcoin Community Relations board! Their expertise in fostering connections will fuel valuable partnerships with industry events, companies, and open-source projects.
8/ Thrilled to welcome Bitcoin visionaries
@JeffBooth
&
@MichaelRihani
to our advisory board. Their expertise will be invaluable in guiding us towards achieving our mission and supporting the BSN network.
Gen Z (born between 1997 and 2012), is in an objectively difficult financial environment.
The oldest zoomers (26 year olds) are starting their careers and professional lives during a time of historic inflation and technological change.
13/ Empowering new clubs:
@D_plus__plus
&
@ChrisSmithBTC
join our Club Development board! They'll advise the creation of comprehensive guides and toolkits to streamline the process of starting and managing a Bitcoin club.
4/ The Bitcoin Students Network (BSN) empowers students with educational, logistical, and financial resources as well as career opportunities to become leaders in the Bitcoin space.
BSN is your comprehensive resource for all things Bitcoin, from education to career exploration.
2/ Mission: Empower the future of
#Bitcoin
, connecting students & clubs to a 🌐 network, opportunities, & resources.
Vision: Strengthen Layer 0, the social & human layer of Bitcoin.
11/ Connecting students with careers:
@epodrulz
&
@Martellfox
join our Career Development board! They'll bridge the gap between students and companies seeking top talent, guiding students to become ideal candidates.

#Bitcoin
can help them achieve financial independence:
Over the past 50 years, inflation rates have consistently outpaced income growth.
For example, housing prices have increased by an average of 4.25% per year from 1967 to 2024, making a $100,000 home in 1967 cost over $1,072,663 today.
Meanwhile, real wages have barely budged; today's average hourly wage has the same purchasing power as it did in 1978.
This disparity makes it impossible for savings to keep up with the rising costs of living.
12/ Building global connections:

@burak_tamac
join our University Outreach board! They'll support BSN outreach and connections with professors, clubs, and students worldwide.
Bitcoin is a hedge against the traditional financial system’s failures.
It's an asset that aligns perfectly with Gen Z's need for financial independence and security in an unpredictable economic landscape.
This is a more aggressive strategy, but it demonstrates the power of Bitcoin's growth potential in a shorter time frame.
Gen Z's advantage lies in starting early and leveraging the unique properties of Bitcoin to secure a more stable financial future over the long run.
Scenario 1:
If you invested $1000 in Bitcoin upfront, and added $200 every month, over 30 years you would end up with $3,641,195 assuming a 20% compound growth rate.
For reference, Bitcoin has compounded annually at 103% since 2011.
However, because of their age, Gen Zers have a unique opportunity to begin compounding their wealth early with Bitcoin.
So let’s do some quick math and model out a few (practical) retirement scenarios:
Of course, it is unrealistic to expect the asset to continue to compound at such a rapid pace, but it is the only absolutely scarce, borderless, and censorship resistant asset that has ever existed.
In reality, 20% CAGR could turn out to be quite bearish.
The average American predicts that they’ll need about $1.5 million to comfortably retire.
So how much Bitcoin would you need to buy, and at what pace, to reach this goal in 15 years instead of 30?
But let’s say you only wanted to wait 15 years to retire, instead of 30.
If you invested $1000 upfront as principal, added $200 every month, and assumed a 20% CAGR, you’d end up with $222,868 after 15 years.
Not bad! But it’s not nearly enough.
Let’s assume that Bitcoin will compound faster in the next 15 years than over the next 30 years.
If we use a 30% CAGR, invest $1000 upfront, and add $550 per month instead of just $200, then over the next 15 years, we could expect to end up with $1.48 million.
