When novels are made into movies, the next printing of the books usually features images from the movie for the cover art. Do you like that?

My parent’s generation had regular get-togethers with friends. Like, cards every Friday night with the Johnsons, that kind of thing. I have great friends, but I can’t get them to commit to something like that. Every get-together is a one-off. I think that’s a shame. Just me?

#WritingCommunity , who’s up for a challenge? Write an opening line for a story that would hook a reader. If I get more than five in the comments, I’ll pick a winner. Or, if this post gets no engagement, I’ll delete it and pretend I never shared it. Ready? Set? Write!

Do you care about book length? Agents and big publishers have expectations around word count for certain genres. It’s all market-driven, of course. Fantasy fans do favour cinderblock-sized books, so give the customer what they want, right? Right? Is there a downside?
