PD Hero had a very busy night shift last night. She tracked and located a high risk missing person, dealt with a male threatening his ex- partner with a knife and found two wanted people trying to hide in a house.

Police dog Tai has retired after 8 years dedicated duty. He was an excellent tracking and search dog.Tai and his handler had a very successful career together and won a number of awards and commendations together. He will be retiring to live at home with his handler and family.

Albie is only 9 weeks old and has lots of energy. He will be trained as one of our specialist search dogs 🐶
PC Wardell & RPD Finn met with a brave young lady this week who always dreamt of being a police officer.
Sadly, due to terminal cancer Ellie won’t get that opportunity. So touched were BCH dog handlers that the unit have named a police puppy after her.

On his first ever night shift, PD Sonny attended South Mimms Services to support local officers who located a SMV and one male ran off. He has tracked across fields, fences and water locating the person. A large quantity of drugs also found. One in custody.
Last night PD Mia carried out her last night shift before she retires. She has been an amazing dog who has worked hard for the three counties for the entirety of her life to help keep us all safe. She is well deserving of a happy and long retirement. You will be missed PD Mia. 👏
Last night Hector and handler spotted a stolen range rover a few minutes after it was stolen. It failed to stop and the driver decamped. Hector was slightly quicker than him and detained him within seconds.
PD Jackson was deployed to Eaton Bray to search for people that had been disturbed stealing piglets from a farm. After an extended search PD Jackson finds 4 people hinding in a field in possession of two piglets. 4x arrests for several offences.

Last night Hector and handler carried out a routine stop check in Luton which turned into a pursuit. Numerous males decamped and Hector detained one during which he got assaulted and his handler caught another. A large amount of suspected class A drugs were recovered.

In January we shared that PD Dexter located vital evidence in Luton.
We could not reveal too much at the time, however the case has now finalised at court.
This was what was found, offenders sentenced to a total of 25yrs custodial for this and connected matters.
Hector attended Luton after a male decamped from a car. He tracked into a garden where he found the male hidden under a plastic sheet. He was arrested for a number of offences including offensive weapon.
PD Dexter assisted following a collision on the A5 Markyate last night. After a 30 minute track the intoxicated driver was located and detained by Dexter.

At 9 3/4 PD Jack is hanging up his lead & retiring after over 8 years service as a DCW Dog. In that time he's recovered thousands of pounds of Drugs, Cash & located Firearms. He has been invaluable to the team, as well as working at the Olympics. He will remain with his handler.
Shout out to PD Scully, supported by APU officers, who tracked from a vehicle locating four people hiding at the back of a garage block and also a box containing 10 puppies which were reportedly stolen during an aggravated burglary in Dunstable. Great team work! 🐶 👏

Pd Bonnie and handler spotted a car driving at speed in Harpenden. Car has made off and two males decamped. Bonnie has tracked along residential streets and found both males hiding behind a cover on a driveway. Driver arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol.

Bonnie attended Kempston after 3 males decamped from a suspected stolen car. She tracked along residential streets where the 3 males made off over a wall and one was detained by containment officers. She then tracked to a second who was hidden in a rear garden.
Pd Bonnie and handler had suspected stolen moped make off from them in St Albans. They found the bike crashed a short distance away and Bonnie tracked to a driveway where the offender was hidden in a Bush.

Congratulations to Police Dog Hector and his handler who successfully passed their firearms support course last week! To date, Hector is the youngest dog in the unit to pass the course. The duo will now be able to support armed officers, helping search buildings & other locations
Hector attended Houghton conquest after concerns were raised for a male. He tracked for almost a mile across fields and into woods where he located the male. He then received the medical attention he needed.

With great sadness we announce the passing of former PD Wilf who worked with PC Dave Pert from 2008 until 2013. He worked as a general purpose dog and a specialist firearms and public order dog. He enjoyed a long, healthy and well-deserved retirement. He will be missed greatly.
