Sometimes you want a good old messy and tasty burger like this delicious bite from Nomad BBQ:
Double patty, bacon, queso flameado, guacamole salsa, and Misfit sauce.
If you have friends headed out to the hot BBQ joints this weekend who haven't eaten BBQ in a while, gently remind them that meat prices have risen substantially.
Don't compare this current price to a visit a year or more ago.
It's not a money grab by the BBQ joint.

Same, also a few miles from that location. I've been down power for 24 hours and internet for 15. All I hear is the hum of generators around me.
A very good example as to why brisket sold at BBQ joints is much more than the raw price. Add in wood, seasoning, many hours of labor, and the real estate costs.
Last thing I expected to see in Seward, Alaska is a Texas BBQ joint. Transplanted former firefighter from Texas serving brisket, ribs, and more cooked on small pits including use of mesquite chunks. Robert Earl Keen and Willy Nelson playing on the radio and Shiner Bock for sale!

I have both solar and gas generators, 3 propane stoves, propane light, two window unit a/c, and enough extension cords to circle the earth.

Don't know how much can or cannot be prevented when we live in a hurricane zone, preparation is key.
A couple months ago we were hit with heavy winds and tornado too with very little warning, at least the hurricane gives us a week.
Pork steaks.
Why do I like them so much? The smell, the sounds of the fat dripping and sizzling (and adding to the smell) the flavor, the ease of cooking, the price, and of course the taste.
Guess I'm not starting a diet today.

Gonna be a crazy BBQ weekend in Texas. Go visit the places you think will land in the top 5 because it's going to be way way busier next weekend.
