My hot take is that fanfiction cannot ever be dangerous. It doesn't matter what the story contains. Fanfiction is freely selected for reading based on tagged content. It's not required reading. There is no such thing as problematic or dangerous fanfic. You can simply NOT read it.

*exhausted sigh* People are saying the "only one bed" trope is rape adjacent culture. 99.9% of the stories using this trope simply makes characters aware of pre-existing feelings at the prospect of close proximity and it usually always plays out WITHOUT sex in the bed. So no.

Some people won't like this, but it should be said. Fandom is a place for everyone to enjoy whatever they like about the media & be freely passionate to their hearts' content, but nobody should ever have dominion over it. Trying to control how a fandom is perceived is, IMO, bad.

Queers deserve flawed, gritty representation too. I can't stress enough how much I despise the idea of queers ONLY going mainstream/getting rep when they're morally flawless, sexless or shaped by a cis-het lens of palatability.

Always kind of amazing to me when a book series has just ZERO lgbtq+ characters. What's even more amazing is that people answer this with, "Well, the book isn't *ABOUT* LGBTQ, so..." You can have queer characters in your story without making it a story about queers😑😑😑

Ah the good old "are sex scenes really necessary in any book that isn't porn?" discourse rears it's ugly head again, so I trudge up to the top of my hill, waving my ratty, well-worn banner that reads, "SEX CAN BE A BIG PART OF SOME PEOPLE'S HUMAN EXPERIENCE!"
