Super thankful for @ycombinator ! and @bradflora in particular! Honestly, YC's biggest advantage is they just care 10x more than any other VC. It's not a huge secret but the amount of effort each YC partner puts into the hundreds of company is insane.

A year ago, I thought raising VC money was a milestone, a sign of progress. I was dead wrong. Fundraising large amounts only means you're good at fundraising. No indicator that you're good at building product, a team, or a successful company.

I see it a different way. If I'm only paying $1m/yr to to grow at 40% YoY, that's AMAZING. It's not worth spending time consolidating just to save $600k/yr. Don't try to save on pennies when your real goal is millions.

I sometimes feel founders listening to VCs is BAD. VCs mention TAM, strategy, GTM, etc like you need to have these things figured out. The reality is Airbnb, OpenSea, Coinbase, and more didn't have ANY of this figured out before they began.

Metamask is a great example of a big product that is stagnating. The wallet really hasn't innovated. Missing NFTs in the chrome extension and notifications in the mobile app. @phantom (and other wallets) on the other hand are shipping FAST
