Over the past 5 yrs Iโve published 17 first author pubs and it has been noticeably harder to publish my LGBTQ+ specific work. I canโt seem to get past editors desks even though my Ns have been larger and methods more rigorous than some of my prior non-LGBTQ+ work. Iโm v annoyed.

Thrilled to get my first T32 aim published! We found that LGBTQ+ AYAs had a significantly higher probability of material (0.47 vs 0.28) and psychological (0.65 vs 0.51) financial hardship in the Horizon Study Cohort.

Today I passed my Master of Science in Public Health thesis project written and oral defense! What a wild few years itโs been from myself becoming a young adult cancer caregiver for my father to finishing my degree during some of the most pressing public health crises in history.

Primarily Spanish-speaking caregivers face substantial communication barriers to the diagnosis of their childโs cancer.
Interpretation services are not enough to mitigate these access and communication issues.

4/5 Survivors and parents who received a physician recommendation were all vaccinated. Those who were unvaccinated reported that they would receive the vaccine if it was recommended by their oncologist.

Again to bring it back to the socioeconomic impact. In the US Individuals with more intersectional identities on average get paid less and hold fewer positions of power in society. We would expect to see the same trend reflected in financial hardship in the cancer context.

2/5 HPV vaccine age eligible survivors (n=10) and parents of survivors younger than 18 (n=10) filled out a survey guided by the Health Belief Model and took part in a semi-structured interview guided the American Cancer Societyโs HPV Roundtable Best Practices.

When I first submitted my paper on double marginalization that LGBTQ+ ppl who do LGBTQ+ research experience, reviewers said my experiences were idiosyncratic - that no one else experienced those things.
What a historic moment! Overdose prevention centers in NYC! They will help save lives, link people to care, and improve conditions in surrounding neighborhoods.
