Congratulations to
@ESA
for the successful launch of its Hera mission today! Hera will study the asteroid system impacted by our DART mission in 2022 to better understand asteroid deflection as a method for defending our planet.
Liftoff! ESA’s Hera mission lifted off on a SpaceX Falcon 9 from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, USA, on 7 October at 10:52 local time (16:52 CEST, 14:52 UTC).
Earth has a temporary, tiny companion.
While not quite a "mini moon," since it will never be captured by Earth's gravity, Asteroid 2024 PT5 does have a similar orbit as our planet and will linger in our vicinity for a few months.

larger than 140 meters in size. It's estimated there are ~14,000 left to find. 🔭

This nutty asteroid is about as long as the Eiffel Tower is tall. It was imaged by our Goldstone radar as it safely passed Earth at a distance of 2.8M miles (4.6M km).

will harmlessly impact Earth’s atmosphere in a few hours at ~12:40pm EDT (~16:40 UTC) and create a fireball off the east coast of the northern Philippines.
BIG NEWS! CSS observer Jacqueline Fazekas has just discovered a small meteoroid that will harmlessly impact with Earth's atmosphere in about 8 hours over the Western Pacific. The object (called CAQTDL2) is small, a few feet in diameter. Attached are the discovery images.
