The price of tobacco products in Australia have just increased by 12.5%. This has pushed up the cost of cigarette packs to more than $40 AUD (over £22), research shows tax rises are one of the most effective ways to encourage quitting and prevent youth uptake.

A new study by academics at UCL has found that a disposable vapes ban [intended to prevent youth vaping] would also affect 2.6 million adults across Great Britain: 1.2 million of whom smoke and a further 744,000 who have previously.

Our new fact sheet on adult use of e-cigarettes in Great Britain has been released. We estimate there are now 3.2 million vapers in Great Britain. Of current GB vapers, over half have quit smoking and 40% are current smokers who are trying to quit.
