This photo really emphasizes the inequality of shadow-based building regulations.
They’ve removed 25% of the possible units in order to accommodate 2 families.
The Queensway in south Etobicoke has numerous mid-rise buildings under construction, which is transforming this Avenue. Photographs today of the nine-storey 197-unit Reina Condos, just east of Royal York Road. South facing terraces are in the making.
“Manulife Financial Corp. announced its coverage of certain prescription drugs will only apply at Loblaw Cos. Ltd. pharmacies.”
This is blatantly anti-competitive and needs to be stopped immediately.
You have to wonder why no one from his team stepped in and said "Mr. Poilievre, you *really* should think twice before stepping into this Diagolon Caravan".
Pierre Poilievre had a strange visit to a protest encampment which has been standing for 23 days.
The leader of the opposition chatted with the 'protestors' about excrement in the encampment, how to sleep comfortably in the trunk of a car, and axing the tax.

Off-beat thought here, there’s absolutely no way my wife and I would’ve been able to afford our house without the
@liberal_party
’s Affordable Childcare Program.
@Sflecce
Why are you imposing a contract rather than negotiating, seeking arbitration, or even passing regular back to work legislation?
Because you want to deprive works of their rights.
NEW: A Toronto daycare that signed on to the national childcare program is now in such financial difficulty that its board is considering closure.
Advocates say it's not a unique case in Ontario, and they say the province's funding model is the problem.
This government will leave a legacy of helping families, especially children.
CCB, $10-per-day-childcare, dental care, pharmacare, and now universal lunch.
Lifting families out of poverty and creating a more equitable Canada.
“Do you have any questions for us, we’ve been on the ground for 23 days now?”
Pierre: *Shakes head* “No, no…you know I will axe the tax though…(softly) I will axe the tax.”

Pierre Poilievre is trying to undermine our institutions and trust in professionals and experts.
This is populist rhetoric, coming on the heels of Poilievre’s appearance at a right-wing extremist encampment.
This video of Poilievre is the most damning, IMO.
For all those saying he’s “listening to their concerns”, he’s not.
He does not care at all about them. He would rather talk about then sunset than their concerns.
After asking the residents of the encampment where they are from, Pierre is quickly distracted by the pretty sunset.
When asked if he had any questions for the people "on the ground", he quickly shook his head.

For working families with small children, my budget guarantees affordable, quality child care.
Most families will pay less than $10 a day per child, saving millions of folks as much as $7,000 a year.
That’s a lot of breathing room for young families who need it most.
People are displeased with their current situations, and the governments with jurisdiction continue to let them down. So the Feds have to work around you to provide the services we need.
Maybe do your job.

Weird “centrism” discourse about the LPC today. This government has been in power for 9 years. COVID must have memory-holed everything they did pre-2020 or something…
Protestors regale the opposition leader with tales from their protest site. An old man comes and sets up flags every day, while his wife is doing chemo.

Social policy has included the CCB, which decimated child poverty in Canada, Bill C-16 and the recognition of gender identity as protected, as well as the economically impactful affordable childcare.
I’m enjoying the replies thinking I’m somehow “triggered” because of my use of “floored”.
I’m floored because this is possibly the stupidest photo op I’ve ever seen. I’m legitimately baffled this was allowed to take place.
How did Pierre’s people let this happen?
Disgusting. Doug Ford does not care about you, me, or the Ontario of today, yesterday, or tomorrow.
Him and his buds get theirs, and that’s all that matters.
The Ontario government is shutting the Science Centre today citing an engineer’s report – which does *not* say the place must close or that all work is urgent. What a betrayal.
@ColinDMello
If CUPE members strike, instead of working under the unilaterally imposed contract, it will be illegal, because this government is choosing to make it illegal.
Wow, Emily should really take the time out of her campaign schedule to meet with Burlington MPP and Parliamentary Assistant to the MoE, Natalie Pierre, to discuss why the provincial funding model isn’t meeting the needs of the centres and the communities they serve.
I went to a community event on Friday night in the Burlington Riding. The Liberal MP for the Riding, Karina Gould went on a cross Canada photo op tour promoting $10/day daycare. Recall that a daycare here closed giving families a week's notice. At the event, a woman told me 1/2

Resign.

The government is failing to provide our education workers with living wages. It’s an insult to every single person with a learner in our public education system.
Their tax initiatives have broadly been progressive, but market-based and traditional small-c conservative plans. Small business taxes are 2% lower than 2015, EcDev has been expanded, and even the Carbon Tax is the conservative consensus model.
@JBradshaw01
There’s a range of age where you pretend you don’t want stickers. Outside of that range, there’s no fear of stickers.
Everyone wants stickers.
The Liberals introduced the Superclusters Initiative in 2018, which prepared Canada to be a front-line power in the AI race, and have continued to invest in advancing technology.
But some are acting like this government has been economically similar to what they believe an NDP government would be.
Check the receipts, they’re running an Operational Surplus.
This government is almost certainly finished. Justin Trudeau will head for the exits. But when you seriously look at this government, it’s silly to say they’ve “lost their way”.
There’s never been a “political centre”. That’s just where you’re comfortable.

- The Ford government tables a record spending budget with a deficit ballooning to $9.8B. There are no new affordability measures beyond what's been announced. Healthcare spending is growing 1.3%, below inflation. There is money for infrastructure & highways & for 4

Tommorow’s increase has nothing to do with the federal carbon pricing.
Pretty gross to lie to the people who elected you to represent them.
NEW: Ahead of the byelection in Toronto St. Paul's, we spoke to Ontario Liberal leader Bonnie Crombie about the Trudeau effect and whether she would be better off if the Prime Minister steps down.

@CityCynthia
This is pathetic. He is completely absconding his duty as premier. Until our hospitals have the resources to deal with unmitigated spread, we can’t be “done” with COVID.
He said this in response to what amounts to a scripted question from Lilley.
What an unbelievable clown of an elected official we have leading our province.
Poilievre is either
- Desperate (Incredibly unlikely. In clear Maj. territory);
- Overconfident, thinking these types of appearances will mobilize his base and not detract voters;
- Not at all considering the consequences of his actions.
I’m going with
#3
here.
I think its time somebody leaked Poilievre’s internal poll numbers. Because there’s no way this guy is acting like he has a 20 point lead. In fact, he’s acting desperate and unhinged. Visiting highway squatters and telling them to keep up the good work tells me a different story.
@RightsOfCanada
@AllPopGuy
See, but this is where they want it to go. This is the point.
We need to teach that SOCIETY doesn’t accept hate. They have the freedom to be hateful bigots at home, but not in society.
Others are saying they’ve been flippant on human rights, or have solely virtue signalled.
Again, look at the legislation they have put forward, and the progress that has been made throughout the last 9 years.
@ColinDMello
They are stripping away constitutionally protected rights to collective bargaining and the right to strike by dangerously invoking the notwithstanding clause.
This is an attack on all labour rights.
They’ve failed in a lot of ways. They broke their promise on democratic reforms, which are desperately needed. They haven’t done enough to diversify the national economy - we’re still an Oil Dollar. And some of their legislations have overstepped.
For FURTHER clarification, only 18.3% of judges appointed by the Liberals (as of the reporting
@jobearon
is referring to) were regular Liberal donors.
Thanks
@maxfawcett
This is what I thought too.
But Poilievre just keeps giving me reason to believe otherwise. It's like he just can't resist.
He plays into those "Trumpian" elements.
@Trevygunz
@TadeuszGiczan
Gaddafi and Hussain were oppressive dictators, Zalenskyy is a democratically elected president.
Note: this is not an endorsement of those wars, just pointing out the difference.
What in the backtracking bullshit is this, Singh?
You can’t say “traitors among us”, and follow it up with “but I’m not saying they’re necessarily *among* us”.
Erin O’Toole has mistakenly made an apt comparison.
Comparing vaccines - everyone doing their part to support those who are unable to vaccinate; and capital gains - those with abundance pay more to support those without.
But apparently solidarity and compassion are divisive.🤔
@ryanwright
This move pure political calculation to divide. This time playing to perception of class differences. Last time it was vaccinations. The country has never been so divided and our prosperity is in slow decline. That is immoral (and dumb).
These education workers aren't teachers, but the work that
@osbcucscso
members do is critical for our learners. They deserve fair compensation and bi-lateral negotiation!

As teachers will likely point out, CUPE represents 55,000 education support workers -- these are not teachers.
Those unions are in early stages of the bargaining process, according to ETFO.

The leader of the Ontario Liberal Party stated that she does not have an opinion on the Federal Carbon Tax, and it is something she will have to study further.
If you are one of 40k Canadians who is privileged enough to be impacted by this new policy, you will be paying your marginal tax rate on 32% more of your capital gains.
The society you built your business around contributed to your gains. Marginally more inclusion is not onerous.
@robertbenzie
@OntarioPCParty
A 5% increase doesn’t even cover inflation from ’21 to ’22. This is insulting to anyone currently suffering under the conditions of our terrible Disability system.
